IntercityHotel Berlin Hauptbahnhof
About
You know what struck me first about the IntercityHotel Berlin Hauptbahnhof? The sheer convenience of stumbling out of one of Europe's busiest train stations and finding yourself at a genuinely solid hotel. I mean, you're literally steps away from the Hauptbahnhof – and I'm talking about the kind of proximity where you can still hear the faint rumble of trains if you listen carefully from certain rooms, though honestly, it becomes white noise pretty quickly. The building itself has that sleek, modern German efficiency vibe going on, nothing too fancy but everything works exactly as it should. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no pretentious lobby theatrics, just competent staff who seem to actually know the city well enough to give you real recommendations.
What really impressed me was how they've managed to create a proper retreat feel despite being planted right in the middle of Berlin's transport chaos. The rooms are thoughtfully designed – I stayed in one facing away from the station side, and it was surprisingly quiet, especially considering you're in the heart of everything. The beds are actually comfortable (you'd be amazed how often hotels get this basic thing wrong), and there's enough space to properly unpack without playing suitcase Tetris. The bathrooms have that clean, minimalist German aesthetic with decent water pressure – small victories, but they matter when you've been walking around Berlin all day. What I appreciated most was how the whole place feels lived-in rather than sterile. You'll spot business travelers mixing with families heading to Brandenburg Gate, which is maybe a fifteen-minute walk through some pretty interesting neighborhoods.
Here's the thing about this location – you're not just near the train station, you're positioned perfectly to explore both the government quarter and the trendy spots around Hackescher Markt without feeling like you need to choose sides. I found myself wandering toward the Spree River most evenings, which is genuinely lovely at sunset, and the hotel staff seemed genuinely enthusiastic about sharing these kinds of local insights. The breakfast spread is solid – nothing revolutionary, but proper German bread, decent coffee, and they actually stock local honey which sounds small but feels authentic. Honestly, with an 8.1 rating, this place sits in that sweet spot where expectations align with reality. It's not trying to be the fanciest hotel in Berlin, but it delivers exactly what most travelers actually need: comfort, location, and staff who treat hospitality like a craft rather than a checklist. If you're the type who wants to feel connected to the city's pulse without sacrificing a good night's sleep, this place gets it right.

Excellent location next to the central station, and excellent sound proofing as you had no idea trains were coming and going all day and night a few hundred metres away. Close to lots of transport options and supermarkets. Was very comfortable visit.
Mr Semih was very helpful at the hotel. The breakfast was excellent. It was very good that it was close to the Berlin Central Station.

Near to the central train station
I actually thought this was a 10 for value. The staff was super friendly, the hotel was close to the main train station so very convenient, breakfast good, and the room more than adequate. The towels were very thin, but otherwise everything was fine!
