Lilienthalschlösschen
About
First Impressions
Walking up to Lilienthalschlösschen, you'll immediately notice this isn't your typical Berlin hotel. The name literally means "Lilienthal's little castle," and honestly, it lives up to that whimsical promise — there's something genuinely charming about this three-star property that feels more like discovering a hidden gem than checking into a standard accommodation. The building has character, which is refreshing when you've seen too many cookie-cutter places around the city.
Location & Neighborhood
Here's what I love about staying in Steglitz-Zehlendorf — you're actually experiencing how Berliners live, not just where tourists congregate. The Lilienthalschlösschen sits in a residential area that feels authentically local, and couples especially seem to get this (they rate the location 9.3, which honestly makes perfect sense). You're close enough to central Berlin that getting around is easy, but far enough out that you can walk tree-lined streets without dodging tour groups every five minutes. Plus, and this is huge for Berlin, there's free parking — I mean, that alone saves you a headache and probably 15-20 euros a day.
The Experience
What strikes me about this place is how it manages to feel both cozy and well-run without trying too hard. Recent guests have rated it 9.0 for location, which tells you something about how the neighborhood grows on people once they settle in. The three-star rating is spot-on — you're not getting marble bathrooms or a concierge, but everything works well and there's a genuine warmth to the service. It's the kind of place where staff actually remember your name, which is rarer than it should be these days.
Practical Perks
Beyond the free parking (which I can't stress enough is a real win in Berlin), the hotel just makes sense for travelers who want to experience the city without the tourist markup. You know what's nice? Being able to grab groceries at local shops, sit in neighborhood cafes where you might be the only non-German speaker, and actually see how this part of Berlin functions day to day. The public transport connections are solid when you want to head into Mitte or Kreuzberg, but you'll find yourself appreciating the quieter pace when you come back each evening.
Why Guests Love It
The 7.9 rating reflects what this place actually delivers — reliable comfort with genuine character in a part of Berlin that most visitors never discover. Couples particularly seem to connect with the romantic potential of the area, and I get it — there's something appealing about having your own little corner of the city rather than being in the thick of everything all the time. It's not trying to be the fanciest place in Berlin, but for travelers who appreciate authenticity over Instagram moments, Lilienthalschlösschen offers something that's increasingly hard to find: a real neighborhood experience with all the practical benefits you actually need.
Early hotels booking in Berlin is essential during major events like the Berlinale Film Festival, as accommodations fill up quickly with visitors eager to experience the city's renowned nightlife and cultural scene.

The little castle ist so charming and wonderful that I will definitely come back anytime I will have business in Berlin. The neighborhood is quiet and has very beautiful villas, that makes walking very pleasant and full of personality. The rooms are comfortable, warm and clean, and the kitchen has almost everything you need.
Good location, good price, large apartment, equipped kitchen, table and chairs, fridge.

Beautiful two room studio in extremely quiet Residential Neighbourhood. Perfect if you like it to Escape the City Lights for the Night. Charming Interieur, if a bit old-fashioned.
We liked the location - lovely, leafy neighbourhood, good transport links and good restaurants nearby. Outside seating was nice for relaxing and eating breakfast. Friendly cat! Cool indoors, despite the heat outdoors.
Very nice and quiet place, 10 min walk to S Bahn station to the centre. Very pleasant owners. We were very satisfied.
