About

So I stumbled across Apartment Frohnau during what was supposed to be a quick Berlin trip, and honestly? Best accidental find in ages. This place sits in Frohnau – and look, I'll be straight with you, most tourists have never heard of this neighborhood. It's way up north, feels almost suburban compared to the chaos of Mitte or Kreuzberg, but that's exactly why it works.

The thing about Frohnau is it's got this weird English garden city vibe going on (there's actually a reason for that – British planners designed it back in the day, but anyway). Walking around here feels like someone dropped a bit of countryside into Berlin, complete with tree-lined streets and houses that actually have proper gardens. The apartment itself reflects this – it's got that residential calm you just can't find in the touristy areas. I mean, you're staying in an actual neighborhood where people live their normal lives, grab groceries, walk their dogs. There's something refreshing about hearing birds in the morning instead of tour groups.

Now, it's officially rated 3 stars, but that 9.1 rating tells the real story. The owners clearly get what travelers actually need – proper WiFi that doesn't cut out during video calls, a kitchen where you can actually cook (not just reheat things), and enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase. The S-Bahn connection is honestly pretty decent once you figure it out – S1 line gets you into the center in about 30 minutes, though I'd recommend getting a day pass because individual tickets add up fast.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. Like, properly quiet. If you're coming from London or New York, the silence might actually weird you out at first. But after a few days of proper sleep, you start to realize how much city noise normally messes with your head. There's this little bakery about a five-minute walk away – can't remember the exact name, but it's on the corner near the pharmacy – where locals queue up Saturday mornings for these incredible sourdough loaves. That's the kind of detail that makes staying here feel less like tourism and more like temporarily living somewhere.

The only thing I'd mention is that if you're planning to stumble back from Hackescher Markt at 2 AM every night, this probably isn't your spot. The S-Bahn stops running, and taxis back here cost a fortune. But if you want to experience Berlin beyond the obvious stuff – maybe explore Tegeler See on a sunny afternoon, or just enjoy having actual space to breathe – Apartment Frohnau delivers something most hotels can't. It's the difference between visiting a city and getting a taste of what living there might actually feel like.

The apartment is well-equipped, spacious and very beutiful! We met the owner at the first day and they were very friendly. Everything you need is in the apartment. Although the apartment is away from Berlin city centre, you can still easily reach many scenary spots, e.g. the Brandenburg Gate by S-bahn (S1 to Frohnau) without any transfer. This place was by far the best accomodation I have ever stayed in Berlin.
