Look, I've stayed in a lot of Berlin apartments over the years, but this place on Kantstraße actually surprised me. The whole self check-in thing had me worried – you know how those can go wrong – but honestly, it was smoother than most hotel front desks I've dealt with. You get the codes sent right to your phone, and within minutes you're inside this genuinely spacious 90 square meter space that doesn't feel like your typical cramped European rental.

What really got me was the location. I mean, Kantstraße isn't the sexiest street name, but you're literally a three-minute walk to Savignyplatz, which is where locals actually hang out (not just tourists). There's this little bakery around the corner that does incredible pretzels in the morning, and you can walk to Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church without dealing with the U-Bahn if you want. The area gets busy during the day – it's proper Berlin, not some sanitized hotel district – but evenings are surprisingly quiet. I was expecting street noise all night, but the windows actually block most of it.

The apartment itself feels more like someone's well-designed home than a rental. The internet is ridiculously fast – I actually tested it because I'm paranoid about working remotely, and yeah, that 300 Mbit thing is real. The space is laid out smart too, with these high ceilings that make everything feel bigger than it is. There's proper counter space in the kitchen (rare for Berlin), and the bathroom has one of those rainfall showers that actually works well. Small thing, but the lighting is warm and thoughtful throughout – not those harsh overhead bulbs you get in most places. Only minor gripe is that the street-facing windows let in quite a bit of light in summer mornings, but honestly, that's Berlin for you. I'd absolutely book this again, especially if you're planning to spend more than a night or two in the city and want to feel like you're actually living there for a bit.
