MEININGER Hotel Berlin Hauptbahnhof
About
You know what struck me first about the MEININGER Berlin Hauptbahnhof? It's one of those places that actually makes sense – I mean, you step off the train and you're basically there. No dragging your suitcase through three different U-Bahn connections or trying to decode which exit gets you closest to your hotel. The Hauptbahnhof is this massive glass cathedral of a train station, and the MEININGER sits right in that buzzing area where everyone's either arriving or heading somewhere exciting.
The vibe is honestly pretty refreshing for a 3-star spot. It's got that modern hostel-meets-hotel thing going on – you'll see backpackers mixing with business travelers, and somehow it works. The lobby has this industrial-chic feel with concrete and steel, but they've softened it with pops of their signature orange color and some actually comfortable seating areas. I've stayed in plenty of places near major train stations that feel either sterile or slightly sketchy, but this one hits that sweet spot where it feels safe and welcoming without being boring. The 7.6 rating makes total sense when you experience it – it's solid, does what it promises, but doesn't try to be something it's not.
What I really appreciate is how they've thought about the practical stuff. The rooms are compact but cleverly designed – everything has its place, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable for what you're paying. Sound-wise, yeah, you're near a major transit hub, so there's some ambient city noise, but it's not the kind that keeps you up unless you're really sensitive to that sort of thing. The breakfast setup is one of those help-yourself affairs, but they keep it well-stocked and the coffee is actually decent (which honestly can make or break a morning when you're traveling). Check-in was smooth when I was there – the staff speaks solid English and German, obviously, and they seem to know their way around helping people figure out the city. If you're planning to explore Berlin properly, this location gives you quick access to pretty much everywhere via the Hauptbahnhof's connections, plus you can walk to the government district and Museum Island if you're into that. It's the kind of place where you sleep well, grab breakfast, and head out to actually experience Berlin rather than spending your time hanging around the hotel – which, let's be honest, is exactly what you want in a city like this.

Staff was very friendly and helpful
Very central to the railway station, rooms cosy and clean .
The location, the professionally friendly staff, the cosiness of the rooms, the ability to access a number of utilities for free (towels, laundry, cleaning, etc).
Overall location and cleanliness.
Location
The location near the station was perfect for my needs. Really need to say thanks to the girl of the staff in the breakfast on the 22th January that helped me when I wasn’t feeling really well. Thanks again.
