Modern Apartment in the Luxury Complex Marthashof
About
You know what caught me off guard about this place? The moment you walk into the Marthashof complex, you actually feel like you've stumbled into one of those residential neighborhoods where actual Berliners live – not the touristy bits everyone writes about. I mean, Schwedter Strasse isn't exactly on the typical Berlin highlights reel, but that's honestly what makes this apartment so refreshing. You're in Pankow, which locals will tell you is where the city gets real, and you can walk to Mauerpark in about ten minutes (crucial for Sunday flea market adventures, trust me).
The apartment itself feels properly modern without being sterile – there's this clean, minimalist thing going on that actually works. The kitchen's got everything you need if you hit up the little Turkish market around the corner, and honestly, after a few days of currywurst and döner, you'll appreciate being able to make your own coffee the way you like it. What surprised me was how quiet it gets at night, even though you're not far from the tram lines. The complex has this sort of courtyard setup that buffers street noise pretty well. The bed's comfortable enough that I didn't wake up feeling like I'd been wrestling with German pillows all night – which, if you've stayed in Berlin before, you know is no small victory.
Here's the thing about staying here instead of Mitte or Kreuzberg – you'll actually see how people live in Berlin, not just where they party. The U2 line is right there, so you're maybe 15 minutes from Alexanderplatz when you want to do touristy stuff, but you can also just wander down to Kollwitzplatz (about a 20-minute walk) where there's this Saturday market that's way less chaotic than the famous ones. The building's got good WiFi, which matters if you're trying to figure out Berlin's somewhat confusing public transport app, and there's decent water pressure in the shower – small things, but they add up when you're dealing with jet lag and trying to feel human again. I'd say the 8.1 rating makes sense; it's not going to blow your mind, but it delivers on what it promises without any nasty surprises.

Very good
Apartment was very spacious, good quality furnishings, beds very comfortable, check in straight forward. Is in a great location with lots of bars, cafes and restaurants nearby, good transport links.
Owners quick to respond to WhatsApp but didn't respond to emails. We asked if we could leave our luggage there for a few hours on our checkout day as we had a late flight, we appreciate that there were other guests checking in that day but disappointingly the owners wouldn't allow us to leave our luggage!
I think what I mentioned above sums it up we loved it
There were many things that my family liked about the apartment, it was very comfortable. It was very well supplied, grocery store across the street, location, phenomenal, and security, having not only a street door, a secondary door, and then the apartment door, felt very
We never could figure out how to use the TV, but that was no biggie, and the lights above the kitchen table we’re not working, but we were OK using the other lights in the kitchen
The stay was good, there were many supermarkets around and it wasn’t far from town. The apartment was beautiful
The apartment was spacious and looked good. The host provided everything we needed and after following the instructions we were able to get into our apartment easily
The bathroom shower door did not close properly. This was not too much of a bother but could definitely be better
Superb
The apartment was clean, in perfect location.
Superb
Great location close to tram and the Berlin Wall Memorial. Nice quiet neighbourhood
Superb
Good location, easy access
Comfortable and pleasant
The apartment is spacious, clean, tastefully furnished with design elements, combining functionality and aesthetics! It is equipped with all the necessary amenities. The garden space to the apartment is a great advantage. The location is excellent - on the first floor in a modern building, on a very quiet and tree-lined street, near a park and many nice restaurants. There is also a supermarket nearby and a convenient bus stop with connections to key locations.
We liked everything:)
Exceptional
very good location!
Superb
