Motel One Berlin-Alexanderplatz
About
Look, I'll be honest – when I first walked up to Motel One Berlin-Alexanderplatz, I wasn't expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes you get pleasantly surprised. The lobby actually has this sleek, modern vibe that feels way more upscale than the price point suggests, and the staff at check-in were genuinely helpful (not just going through the motions like you get at some chain hotels).
The location is what really sold me on this place, though. You're literally a few minutes' walk from Alexanderplatz – I mean, you can practically see the TV Tower from some of the upper floors. That might sound touristy, but honestly, being that close to the U-Bahn and S-Bahn connections is incredibly practical. I could get anywhere in Berlin without thinking twice about it. Plus, there's this great little currywurst stand just around the corner that the locals actually eat at (not one of those tourist traps), and if you head toward Hackescher Markt, you'll find yourself in some really authentic neighborhoods within a 15-minute walk.
The rooms themselves are compact but smartly designed – sort of like someone actually thought about how real people use hotel rooms. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and they've got these blackout curtains that actually work (trust me, this matters when you're trying to sleep off jet lag). The bathrooms are small but functional, with decent water pressure, which... well, you don't always get that guaranteed in Berlin hotels. One thing I appreciated was how quiet it was at night – Alexanderplatz can get pretty busy during the day, but the hotel seems well-insulated from street noise. The Wi-Fi was solid throughout my stay, which matters when you're trying to figure out museum hours or restaurant recommendations. I will say the breakfast isn't included at this price point, but there's a good bakery literally next door, and honestly, grabbing a proper German pretzel and coffee feels more authentic anyway. For the money you're paying, especially considering that 8.6 rating isn't just marketing fluff, this place delivers on being a solid base for exploring the city without breaking your budget.

New centrally located hotel, clean rooms, comfortable beds, air conditioning. We did not have hotel breakfast, but enjoyed the rooftop bar.
The location is great, and the hotel is very good value for money. The room is a decent size for two people.
The location in Alexanderplatz was excellent and it was close to the station making all areas of Berlin easily accessable. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially in the rooftop bar and at reception.
