About this stay

About

You know what caught me off guard about Nena Apartments Berlin Adlershof? The fact that it actually feels like staying in someone's well-kept home rather than a sterile hotel box. I mean, sure, it's technically a 3-star place, but honestly – whoever's running this spot clearly gets what travelers actually need. The building has this understated charm that fits perfectly with Adlershof's whole vibe, which, if you haven't been, is this fascinating mix of science campus and residential neighborhood that most tourists completely miss.

Adlershof itself is sort of Berlin's best-kept secret for people who want to experience the city without the chaos of Mitte or Kreuzberg. You've got the massive Humboldt University campus right there (all those sleek research buildings and students biking around), but also these quiet tree-lined streets where actual Berliners live their lives. The S-Bahn connection is honestly fantastic – you can be in central Berlin in about 20 minutes, but when you come back at night, you're not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling around outside your window. The apartments themselves feel spacious in that way German places often do, with actual kitchens where you can cook real meals, not just those sad hotel kettles for instant coffee. I particularly loved the fact that the windows actually open properly (sounds silly, but you know how many places have those terrible tilt-only windows?), and during summer evenings, you get this lovely cross-breeze that makes air conditioning unnecessary.

What really sold me on this place was the neighborhood itself – there's this fantastic little Turkish bakery about a five-minute walk away where locals line up for fresh bread in the mornings, and the weekly market that sets up nearby has some of the best produce I found anywhere in Berlin. The parking situation is refreshingly stress-free compared to most Berlin accommodations, and check-in was handled by someone who actually seemed to enjoy their job rather than just going through the motions. The 8.4 rating makes total sense once you're there – it's not trying to be fancy or Instagram-perfect, but everything works exactly as it should. The WiFi is solid (I was working remotely part of the time), the shower has proper water pressure, and the beds are comfortable without being those too-soft hotel disasters that leave you feeling like you slept in quicksand. If you're the type who prefers exploring neighborhoods over checking tourist boxes, and you appreciate having space to actually unpack and settle in for a few days, this place gets it right in all the ways that matter.

Visitors often choose Berlin apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent German capital.

Nice clean and spacious rooms. Our check in was after reception time but everything was arranged for us perfectly.

I had a pleasant stay. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. It was a queen size, which was great for one person but might be a bit small for two. The supermarket is conveniently located just across the street, and the tram station is very close.
