About this stay

About

So I've stayed at the NH Berlin Alexanderplatz a handful of times now, and honestly? It's become my go-to spot when I need to be right in the thick of things without completely breaking the bank. The thing is, you're literally steps away from Alexanderplatz station – and I mean literally, not in that exaggerated way hotels usually claim. You walk out the front door and boom, there's the U-Bahn entrance. The TV Tower looms over everything, which sounds touristy but actually makes navigation stupidly easy when you're wandering back after a night out in Hackescher Markt.

The hotel itself has that modern NH chain vibe – clean lines, lots of glass, nothing too fancy but everything works properly. What I really appreciate is how quiet the rooms are, considering you're in one of Berlin's busiest areas. I mean, you can still hear the occasional tram if you really listen, but it's not the constant urban chaos you'd expect. The beds are proper comfortable too, none of that rock-hard European mattress nonsense some places still think is acceptable. And the bathrooms – well, they're compact but functional, with decent water pressure (trust me, this matters more than you think when you've been walking around Berlin all day).

You know what really sold me on this place though? The breakfast situation. It's not included in every rate, but when you do spring for it, they actually have proper coffee and decent pastries – not just those sad continental breakfast croissants that taste like cardboard. Plus the staff at reception are genuinely helpful, not just going through the motions. Last time I was there, the guy behind the desk gave me actual directions to a good späti nearby instead of just pointing vaguely down the street. The 8.2 rating makes total sense to me – it's solidly good without trying to be something it's not. You're paying for location and reliability here, and on both counts it delivers. Sure, the decor won't win any awards and the elevator can be a bit slow during busy periods, but when you can walk to Museum Island in fifteen minutes and catch a train to literally anywhere in the city without even thinking about it? That's worth something. It's the kind of place where you spend your time exploring Berlin instead of hanging around the hotel, which is exactly how it should be.
