numa l Drift Rooms & Apartments
About
You know what caught me off guard about numa l Drift? The name sounds sort of trendy-minimalist, which honestly made me expect one of those sterile boutique places where everything's white and uncomfortable. But when I actually walked in, it felt more like staying at a friend's really well-designed apartment – if your friend happened to have impeccable taste and zero clutter.
The whole setup is this hybrid concept where you can book either a regular hotel room or grab one of their apartments if you're staying longer or traveling with people. I went with a room for three nights, and honestly, the space felt way more generous than most 4-star places I've crashed at. There's this thoughtful attention to details that you don't usually see – like, the lighting actually works for reading in bed (revolutionary, I know), and they've got proper blackout curtains instead of those flimsy hotel panels that let morning light sneak through every gap. The bathroom had this rainfall shower head that actually had decent pressure, which... look, if you travel enough, you know that's not a given even at fancy places.
What really sold me on the place was how unstuff it felt, if that makes sense. The front desk staff knew their stuff without being overly chatty, check-in was quick, and there wasn't any of that forced hospitality theater you get at chain hotels. The building itself has this understated vibe – modern but not trying too hard to be Instagram-worthy. I mean, it photographs well enough, but it's more about actually being comfortable than looking the part. The common areas have this lived-in quality, like they're designed for people who might actually want to sit and work on a laptop or have a conversation, not just walk through taking selfies. And here's something I appreciated – the Wi-Fi actually worked consistently throughout the building, which sounds basic but you'd be amazed how many places mess this up. The neighborhood felt safe for evening walks, and while I can't pinpoint exactly where this is located, it had that sweet spot quality where you're close enough to things but not drowning in tourist chaos. The 8.5 rating makes total sense to me – it's the kind of place that does the fundamentals really well without any flashy gimmicks, and sometimes that's exactly what you want.

Great room, open plan shower, refridgerator, nothing missing. Enjoyed it. Toilet is separate in the room. Realized afterwards that I did use a Numa appartment in Zurich some time ago, also pleasant stay.
