Quentin Design Hotel Berlin
About
Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect when I first pulled up to the Quentin Design Hotel on Kalckreuthstr – it's tucked into this quiet residential street in Schöneberg that feels more like a local neighborhood than tourist central. But that's actually part of its charm, you know? The building itself has this understated modern vibe that doesn't scream "design hotel" from the outside, which I sort of appreciated after seeing so many over-the-top boutique places.
The lobby hits you with these clean lines and unexpected pops of color – think mid-century modern meets contemporary German design, but not in a stuffy way. What really struck me was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about dinner spots, the front desk guy didn't just hand me a generic tourist map but started talking about this Turkish place around the corner on Hauptstraße that locals frequent, and how the weekend farmers market at Winterfeldtplatz (just a ten-minute walk) is way better than the more famous ones. The rooms are comfortable enough – nothing revolutionary, but the beds are solid and there's decent storage space, which matters when you're living out of a suitcase. I mean, the bathrooms could use a refresh, and you can definitely hear some street noise if you're facing Kalckreuthstraße, but it's not the kind of area where things get crazy loud at night.
What I really liked was the location – you're genuinely in a lived-in part of Berlin rather than some sanitized hotel district. There are actual neighborhood cafes within a block or two, and you can walk to Nollendorfplatz U-Bahn station in about eight minutes, which connects you pretty much everywhere you'd want to go. The breakfast situation is decent (nothing fancy, but they do a proper German spread), and parking is... well, it's Berlin street parking, so good luck with that. I'd say this place works best for people who want to feel like they're staying in actual Berlin rather than tourist Berlin, if that makes sense. It's not going to blow your mind, but it's honest and well-located, and sometimes that's exactly what you need. The 4-star rating feels about right – comfortable and thoughtful without trying too hard to impress.

Location

Very good
everything was ok
Lovely hotel in a good location just disorganised.
The room was very modern, comfortable and had everything you'd want including coffee machine, mini fridge, hair dryer, sofa table and chairs etc.
Was emailed the day before offering me early check in at cost, when I arrived was told not an option as too many people had been given late check outs that day and to come back at 3pm. At 3pm was told had to continue to wait despite two or three other people arriving and being checked in no problem. Was then told about forty mins later my room is ready but won't have any towels till later in the afternoon. Eventually got them but just felt very disorganised. Have to say though the staff member was very pleasant and helpful.
CHEECK OUT AREA
Room was spotless. Hotel was clean throughout.
Had to ask for clean towels and only got 2 for 2 people, no hand towels, no mat to stand on outside shower, light didn't work, kettle didn't work and only one plug socket worked. Aslo had to ask for toilet roll twice before we got it. We didn't realise that this hotel was in the heart off thee malee gay district and that meant that some off the local bars wouldn't let the female in.
Great hotel in a great location
