Quentin XL Potsdamer Platz
About
You know what struck me first about the Quentin XL Potsdamer Platz? It's got this unapologetically bold vibe that somehow works perfectly in Berlin's most reinvented neighborhood. I mean, you're literally standing where the Berlin Wall once divided the city, and this 4-star spot embraces that whole "new Berlin" energy without trying too hard to be hip. The lobby hits you with these vibrant colors and quirky design touches that feel more like walking into a friend's impossibly cool apartment than some sterile hotel chain.
The location is honestly unbeatable if you want to feel the pulse of modern Berlin. You're a two-minute walk from Potsdamer Platz station, which connects you to basically everywhere – the Brandenburg Gate is right there, and you can hop on the S-Bahn to get to Hackescher Markt or Friedrichshain without thinking twice. What I really appreciate is how you're close enough to all the major tourist stuff (the Sony Center's right across the way with its impressive dome), but tucked just far enough off the main drag that you're not dealing with constant tour groups under your window. The area gets pretty quiet after business hours since it's still somewhat corporate, which actually works in your favor for sleep quality.
The rooms themselves are spacious – that "XL" in the name isn't just marketing speak. I've stayed in plenty of Berlin hotels where you're practically climbing over your suitcase to get to the bathroom, but here you actually have room to spread out. The design keeps that same playful-but-sophisticated thing going, with pops of color that somehow don't feel overwhelming. Honestly, the 7.3 rating feels about right – it's solid without being spectacular, and you're paying for the location and space more than luxury touches. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood well, which matters more than you'd think. They'll point you toward the good coffee spot around the corner (not the tourist trap in the Sony Center) and can actually give you decent restaurant recommendations that aren't just the usual suspects. Check-in was smooth when I was there, though I'd imagine it gets hectic during festival season or when there's a big conference in town – Potsdamer Platz sees a lot of business travelers. If you're the type who wants to walk everywhere and soak up that intersection of old and new Berlin, this place puts you right in the middle of it all.

Great location, big rooms, comfy beds. Smart TV
The location is really close to the city center & variety of public transport. We can even walk from the hotel to the iconic Brandenburg gate. Check in & check out are smooth. The bed is quite comfortable too. No missing amenities. They also let us park our car after our checkout time while we still explore the city (this depends on availability of the parking lot).
