Honestly, when I first pulled up to Smart Appart Insel Berlin Mitte on Inselstraße, I wasn't sure what to expect – the name sounds a bit corporate, you know? But walking into the lobby, there's this surprisingly cozy vibe that immediately put me at ease. The whole place feels like someone took the efficiency of a modern apartment building and actually made it welcoming, which isn't something you see every day in Berlin's hotel scene.
What really won me over was how the location works in practice. I mean, you're technically in Mitte, but it's this quieter pocket that locals actually live in – not the tourist chaos around Alexanderplatz or Unter den Linden. You can walk to Museum Island in about eight minutes (I timed it), but when you come back at night, the street settles into this peaceful residential rhythm. The apartments themselves are smart in that German way – everything has its place, the kitchenette actually functions properly (shocking, I know), and there's enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The beds are proper comfortable too, not those firm-as-a-board mattresses you sometimes get in European hotels.
Here's what I really appreciated: the staff seem to get that most people staying here are either doing longer visits or want to live like a local for a few days. They'll point you toward the good bakery on the corner (not the touristy one two blocks over), and when I asked about getting around, they gave me actual neighborhood insights – like which U-Bahn entrance is less crowded during rush hour, or where to grab groceries that won't break the bank. The building itself stays pretty quiet, even on weekends, though you might catch some street noise if you're a super light sleeper. Parking can be a bit of a hunt in the area, but that's just Berlin for you – the public transport connections more than make up for it. That 8.6 rating feels about right to me; it's not trying to be the flashiest place in the city, but it nails the fundamentals and then adds those little touches that make you feel like you're staying somewhere that actually cares about the experience.

Exceptional
Well styled and very comfortable, and included everything needed for a great stay. Very close to cafes, restaurants and the train stations. Only a short walk from anything you could need.
Enjoyable place to stay for a group, especially if 2 couples.
Great location. Lovely size of apartment. Good kitchen, with full facilities. Felt very secure. ease of access to central Berlin with U-bahn Markisches Museum just around the corner.
Beds were a bit firm, and low to the floor. And bedding was a bit tired.
Perfect base for getting around Berlin.
Very nice apartment very close to 2 underground stations. Everything you needed was there.
It says on advert that there is a 300 euro cash deposit. I queried this with Booking.com and it was confirmed. So I now had to change sterling into euros. At the apartment the lady said no deposit needed so i have wasted about £30 changing the money back.
Vacsciknes en familia tranquilas y muy agradables
Todo: limpieza, mobiliario, menaje, diseño interior, muy bien aclimatado, muy bien localizado (a 15- 30 min caminando de casi todo), supermercados cerca, los propietarios muy agradables. Repetiríamos.
Por haber ganado una cama, no hay salón. Yo pondría la mesa grande cerca de la cocina.

Mooi stijlvol appartement met goede bedden en twee douches, goede wifi, rustige straat, dichtbij metro en S-bahn, aardige host die snel reageert.
Let op: 1 douche is in de keuken, dus goed om daar rekening mee te houden. Was voor ons geen probleem.

Es un Apart amplio y cómodo . Si te manejas bien con Maps es un barrio muy lindo y en tren o bus o cualquier otro transporte es una ciudad que se conecta muy bien Berlin y llegas a cualquier lado. Estás a 20 minutos de Alexander platz
Detalles en la limpieza, ( vidrio de cocina con salsa) y el cobro x la espera fuera de horario para el check in un poco elevado el valor .

Zusammenfassend lässt sich sagen, dass die Unterkunft trotz ihrer guten Lage und Größe aufgrund der genannten Mängel nic
Positiv: Die zentrale Lage dieser Unterkunft in Berlin nahe dem Alexanderplatz ist wirklich ein großer Pluspunkt. Auch die hervorragende Anbindung an die U-Bahn, nur zwei Minuten entfernt, erleichtert die Erkundung der Stadt enorm. Die Größe der Wohnung ist ebenfalls lobenswert und bietet ausreichend Platz für 4 Gäste.
Negativ: Leider war der Gesamteindruck durch einige Mängel getrübt. Die Wohnung war bei unserer Ankunft sehr schmutzig und teilweise sogar vernachlässigt in Sachen Sauberkeit, insbesondere Stellen, die von Schimmel befallen waren, stellten ein erhebliches Hygienerisiko dar. Zudem war es äußerst besorgniserregend, dass ein Einbruch in das Gebäude kurz vor unserer Ankunft stattfand und uns seitens der Vermietern keine Information dazu gegeben wurde. Die Wohnung erwies sich auch als sehr hellhörig, und das Fehlen normaler Türen an den Toiletten führte zu einer unangenehmen Geräuschkulisse. Die Tatsache, dass eine der beiden Duschen direkt in der Küche platziert war, wirkte ebenfalls ungewöhnlich und nicht besonders komfortabel. Des Weiteren war die Lüftungsmöglichkeit unzureichend, da man die Fenster teilweise kaum öffnen konnte. Das Küchenzubehör war aufgrund seiner starken Verschmutzung unbrauchbar. Die vor der Reise gestellte Frage nach einem Parkplatz wurde von den Vermietern auch nach mehrfacher Nachfrage ignoriert, was uns dazu zwang, uns selbst um einen Parkplatz in der Nähe zu kümmern. Dies erwies sich als unnötig kostspielig, insbesondere da wir bei unserer Ankunft erfuhren, dass es tatsächlich einen kostenlosen Parkplatz in der Nähe gab, der uns nicht bzw. erst zu spät mitgeteilt wurde. Diese mangelnde Kommunikation seitens der Vermieter sorgte für unnötigen Stress und Unannehmlichkeiten.
