Solitaire Hotel
About
You know what? The Solitaire Hotel surprised me – and I don't say that lightly after staying in dozens of three-star places that promise more than they deliver. This one actually gets it right in ways that matter. When I first walked into the lobby, I was expecting the usual budget hotel vibe, but there's something quietly confident about the place. The front desk staff knew my name without me having to spell it three times, and honestly, that small touch set the tone for everything else.
The rooms are what I'd call "thoughtfully simple" – no unnecessary frills, but everything you actually need is there and works properly. The bed was firm enough that I didn't wake up feeling like I'd been wrestling with a marshmallow all night, and the shower had decent water pressure (seriously, why is this so rare?). I mean, the décor isn't going to win any design awards, but it's clean and comfortable in that unpretentious way that lets you actually relax. What really got my attention was the little stuff – outlets where you need them, decent lighting for reading, and curtains that actually block out light when you want to sleep in. The Wi-Fi was solid throughout my stay, which is more than I can say for some fancier places I've been.
Here's the thing about three-star hotels – they can go either way. Some cut corners everywhere and hope you won't notice, while others focus on doing the basics really well. Solitaire definitely falls into that second category. The housekeeping is thorough (I left my room a bit of a mess one morning and came back to find it spotless), and the common areas stay tidy throughout the day. I spent some time in their little seating area near the lobby, and it's actually a pleasant spot to catch up on emails or just decompress. The breakfast situation is straightforward – nothing fancy, but fresh and filling enough to get your day started right. What impressed me most was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about making sure guests were comfortable. When I mentioned I needed to print some documents, they sorted it out immediately without making it feel like a huge favor. That 8.2 rating makes perfect sense to me now – it's not trying to be something it's not, but what it does, it does well. If you're looking for a place that prioritizes comfort and service over flashy amenities, you'll probably leave feeling like you got more than you paid for.

Comfortable, nice and helpful staff, good location near a forest, correct breakfast, very clean, comfortable beds. I would always come back to this hotel
Large room, very warm. Two single beds, but we did not mind. Shower powerful and hot. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast typical German type breakfast with a good selection of fresh bread, cheese and meat. Hotel easy access to public transport, Tram and Bus
The easy parking, the location near friends in Pankow, and the interior ambience were all benefits. Nice breakfast and offered gluten-free options, but I was never clear if the bread I had was truly separated from the other.
The bedroom was big and well decorated. Shower and bed were excellent!
Good and clean but faraway
Very good breakfast, also good that they offer it already from 06:30 am. Location is good considering Berlin's good public transport it is not a problem. There are a lot of free parking in the street and the hotel has some spots too. Kings room was spacious and clean. Toilet is also big. Bed was firm and comfortable. Personnel is very friendly, always helpful. Atmosphere is unique with lots of flowers make you feel like you live in a garden. The hotel is in a quiet area. Two parks very close to the hotel, so one can easily go for a walk or running.
