Telegraphenamt
About
You know what's funny about the Telegraphenamt? The name literally means "telegraph office," and honestly, that's exactly what this place used to be – I mean, you can still see some of the original architectural details that give it away. It's one of those conversions that actually works, where they kept the character but made it feel completely luxurious. The moment you walk in, there's this gorgeous contrast between the old postal service bones of the building and these really thoughtful modern touches. The lobby has these massive windows that let in incredible light, and the floors – they're this beautiful terrazzo that I'm pretty sure is original but polished to perfection.
What really got me was how quiet it is inside, despite being right in the heart of things. The rooms are spacious in that European way where they actually thought about how humans live, not just where they sleep. My room had these thick walls (probably why the telegraph office worked so well back in the day) that blocked out pretty much everything, which was perfect since I tend to be a light sleeper. The bathroom was honestly one of the nicest I've encountered – heated floors, which sounds fancy but is actually just practical when you're getting ready in the morning. The shower pressure was spot-on, and they had this subtle lighting system that didn't blind you if you stumbled in there at 3 AM. Little things like that show they get it.
The staff here has that rare quality where they're genuinely helpful without being hovering – they seem to know the neighborhood really well, which makes sense since this isn't some chain property. When I asked about dinner recommendations, the front desk guy didn't just hand me a generic list but actually asked what I was in the mood for and suggested this little place around the corner that I never would have found otherwise. The whole experience felt more like staying at a really well-run boutique place where someone actually cares about the details. Check-in was smooth, the WiFi worked everywhere (crucial for me), and they even had decent coffee in the lobby throughout the day. It's the kind of place where the 5-star rating feels earned rather than bought, if that makes sense – everything works well, looks great, but doesn't feel stuffy or intimidating. I'd definitely come back, which honestly is my real test for any hotel.

Loved the ambiance of the hotel, the amenities, the bar, the design...it was all so beautiful. The history of the property is fascinating and seeing the remnants of its former life as the crucial Berlin telegraph centre was really cool. Loved (!) the elevators and the theme.
This is the best hotel in Berlin if you like the cosy industrial look. It's all brilliant, but a special mention has to be made for the gym, which is probably the best I've ever used. Staff are great, breakfast is totally delicious, rooms are a lovely size. Love it!
Loved everything
Basically it is the staff that make this hotel exceptional, they could not be more welcoming
Great location, amazing property with cool design. Rooms are large with elegant design & facilities. You must try their breakfast for at least one morning. The selection is wonderful with fresh juices, baked goods and to-order eggs.
What a hotel. It’s beautiful, cool and very welcoming. The room (with view of TV Tower) was unforgettable
Location and comfort
Lots of beautiful spaces to meet, eat and lounge while being surrounded by relics of the past.
One of the most beautiful hotel restorations I ever seen. Old post office machinery maintained with a brand new touch. Huge bed, beautiful rooms and fantastic breakfast.
We did not have the breakfast. But the location was wonderful.
