The Gleditsch – Perl in Schöneberg up to 4 ppl
About
Look, I'll be honest - when I first heard about The Gleditsch, I wasn't expecting much from a 3-star place tucked away in Schöneberg. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones that surprise you, and this little gem absolutely did that. The name might be a mouthful (it's one of those classic Berlin tongue-twisters), but locals just call it "the Perl," which actually makes perfect sense once you see it.
What really got me was how genuinely local this area feels - I mean, you're right in the heart of Schöneberg, but it's not touristy at all. You'll wake up to the sound of actual Berliners heading to work, maybe catch the scent of fresh bread from the bakery down the street, and honestly, that's worth more than any fancy lobby marble. The fact that they can accommodate up to four people is clutch if you're traveling with friends or family, and the space actually feels lived-in rather than sterile. The building itself has that pre-war Berlin character - you know, those high ceilings and thick walls that keep things quiet even when the city gets busy outside. And speaking of quiet, the neighborhood settles down nicely in the evenings, which is something you can't always count on in Berlin.
Here's the thing about Schöneberg that most guidebooks won't tell you - it's perfectly positioned between the obvious tourist spots and the places where real life happens. You can walk to the Saturday market at Winterfeldtplatz (seriously, go for the cheese guy in the corner), and you're close enough to Potsdamer Platz when you need that big-city energy, but far enough away that you won't be fighting crowds every time you step outside. The 8.2 rating makes total sense to me because it's not trying to be something it's not - it's just a solid, comfortable place run by people who seem to actually care about the details. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, none of that overly formal hotel theater, and the staff knew their stuff about the neighborhood without being pushy about it. I actually found myself staying in more evenings than I planned, just because the space felt cozy enough to relax in rather than just crash. If you're the type who wants to experience Berlin like someone who lives here rather than just passes through, this is exactly the kind of place that makes that possible.

The apartment was really nice and had everything we needed, little kitchen and bathroom and a living room that was very nice to chill in. We enjoyed our stay here
Good neighborhood, clean, friendly employees.
Perfect location, good equipment, nice ambience,
We stayed here 3 times before. It’s close to our friends house
Great apartment, very comfortable with all necessary amenities. A good supermarket a few metres away, a fabulous bread shop over the road, metro stations within a few minutes walk, in an excellent location to investigate Berlín.
Location was great on a really nice and calm neighborhood but also with a lot of restaurants/bars/cafes. There is a supermarket on the same street and public transport by metro/bus/train quite near. The apartment was quite nice well equipped with appliances and clean. No problems arranging to get the keys and the host, Juan, was very nice.
