The Koburger I – central budget studio with extra high bed
About
Look, I'll be honest – when I first saw "extra high bed" in the name, I thought it was some quirky marketing gimmick. But you know what? It's actually genius, especially if you're traveling with kids. The Koburger I sits on this quiet residential street in Tempelhof-Schöneberg, and I mean quiet – you're not dealing with the tourist chaos of Mitte, but you're still ridiculously well-connected to everything that matters in Berlin.
The studio itself is exactly what it says on the tin: budget-friendly but thoughtfully designed. That high bed everyone talks about? It creates this clever extra space underneath that kids absolutely love (mine treated it like a fort), and couples can use it for luggage storage without living out of suitcases on the floor. The whole place has this clean, minimalist vibe – not Instagram-perfect, but genuinely functional. The kitchenette is small but has everything you actually need, which matters when you're trying to save money on breakfast or want to grab groceries from the Rewe around the corner instead of eating out every meal.
What really sold me on this spot is the neighborhood feel. Koburger Straße itself is lined with those classic Berlin apartment buildings, and you'll find yourself walking past locals heading to work, not just other tourists taking selfies. The U-Bahn connections are solid – Kleistpark station gets you anywhere in the city without the premium you'd pay for staying directly in the center. Plus, there's this fantastic Turkish bakery two blocks down that does the best börek I've had outside of Istanbul (though maybe I'm biased because I discovered it on my second morning when I was desperately craving real coffee). The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward, none of that overly formal hotel lobby nonsense, and the 8.2 rating makes sense once you realize what you're getting – reliable, comfortable, and honestly designed for people who want to spend their time exploring Berlin, not hanging around their accommodation. It's the kind of place where you sleep well, wake up refreshed, and head out knowing you didn't blow your budget on fancy amenities you'd never use anyway.

Lack of coffe and tea.
We had a great stay
Good location near Innsbrucker Platz. Calm area. Everything you need in the apartment. No stairs.
Pans could be replaced. Small area but creatively used.
It was enjoyable. Conveninet to U-Bahn, S-Bahn and bus. Well located.
The room was clean comfortable, proximity to the s Bahn and U Bahn made it convenient too
The “problems” didn’t really bother me so all in all really nice and really enjoyed the stay, would definitely recommend
The location was great, the bed was super comfortable, kitchen had everything basic you’d need, all in all great and would definitely recommend
badly soundproof could hear neighbors a lot ( for me didn’t matter, but for others might), got really could couldn’t find where to control the heating or if it’s possible to control the heating
Lovely area - especially for dogs - near Rudolph-Wilde Park
Dog permitted (we paid a dog fee of 50 euro in cash for 1 dog, 3 nights). We enjoyed the beautiful Rudolph-Wilde Park nearby. There is a very nice "street food" area called "Laax" in the park.
We were not aware (our mistake!) that 14 VH is in the ground floor at street level. People in the street can look directly into the bed if you do not keep the curtains closed. We were happy that we could spend a lot of time outdoor.
Exceptional
we had a lovely stay everything was perfect, thank you :)
Perfect apartment in Berlin
Everything about our stay at this apartment was great. The apartment itself very easy to get to and very close to the S-Bahn station Innsbrucker Platz. The check-in manager was very helpful and even gave us some tips about the city. The apartment is comfortable with everything we needed and importantly very fast internet. In short: clean and comfortable, we can only recommend.
