The Mierendorf I, budget group & family apartment, 1BR, 1 Living room
About
You know what caught me off guard about The Mierendorf I? It's actually way more spacious than you'd expect for a budget place in Berlin. I mean, when you hear "budget apartment" in Charlottenburg, you're probably picturing some cramped box, but this one-bedroom setup honestly feels like you could spread out and breathe. The living room's got enough space for the whole family to hang out without stepping on each other – which, if you've traveled with kids, you know is basically priceless.
The location on Mierendorffstraße is one of those quiet residential streets that locals love but tourists rarely stumble across by accident. You're in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, which sounds fancy but isn't stuffy – it's got that lived-in Berlin vibe where actual families shop at the corner markets and walk their dogs. There's this great little Turkish bakery about two blocks down that does incredible börek in the mornings, and honestly, the smell of fresh bread drifting up the street is better than any hotel wake-up call. The U-Bahn connection is solid too – you can get to the city center without any of those annoying transfers that eat up your sightseeing time.
What I really appreciated was how the place actually functions for real people, not just Instagram photos. The kitchen has proper counter space (shocking, I know), the bathroom doesn't require gymnastic skills to navigate, and – this might sound weird but hear me out – the windows actually open wide enough to get some air circulation going. Berlin summers can be brutal, and a lot of these older buildings turn into saunas. The 7.6 rating makes sense to me because it's not trying to be something it's not. It's clean, functional, and comfortable without any pretense. Sure, you're not getting marble countertops or a concierge, but the WiFi works, the beds are decent, and there's enough storage space that you're not living out of your suitcase on the floor. For families especially, having that separate living area means the kids can crash on the sofa bed while parents get some actual privacy – which, let's be real, doesn't happen often when you're traveling on a budget. The whole setup just feels more like borrowing a friend's apartment than staying in some sterile hotel room where you're afraid to touch anything.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Berlin at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak summer season when the city hosts numerous outdoor festivals and cultural events.

Very nice, cozy apartment
Cozy apartment with everything required, and in a nice location close to some bars and restaurants.
It was good overall.
Location is good. Facilities are good. They welcomed guests with a free bottle of wine. Feel very comfortable inside the apartment.
Don't forget key inside apartment, you will get locked out. Managers unwilling to help unless you offer to pay for them to come and open the door.
Nice apartment. Good location.
Appliances, quiet, close to public bus and U bann.
Bathroom/shower was always wet as the water draining and ventilation not working that well. No accessible public garbage bins.
Very good
Gute Lage Sehr Sauber
Sehr schlechter TV Empfang
Good
Vooral in hoogslaper erg warm.
