The Mierendorf Hinterhaus, 2 bed rooms up to 4 people
About
You know what? I wasn't expecting much when I first heard "Hinterhaus" -- which basically means "back house" in German -- but The Mierendorf totally surprised me. It's this quietly brilliant little setup that feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend's place than some sterile hotel room. The whole vibe is sort of residential-meets-boutique, if that makes sense. You've got these two proper bedrooms that can handle up to four people without anyone feeling like they're sleeping in a closet, which honestly is rare these days. The space actually breathes, you know?
What really gets me about this place is how it nails that sweet spot between privacy and convenience. Since it's tucked away as a "back house," you're not dealing with street noise or tourists wandering past your windows at all hours -- I mean, I could actually sleep in on Sunday morning without hearing delivery trucks rumbling by at 7 AM. But you're not isolated either. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel where you'll spot locals heading to work with their coffee, kids on bikes, that sort of authentic daily rhythm that makes you feel like you're actually experiencing a place rather than just visiting it. The whole setup reminded me why I prefer smaller properties over those massive chain hotels where every hallway looks identical.
Check-in was refreshingly straightforward -- none of that lobby theater where you wait around while they "upgrade your experience." The space itself has character without trying too hard, if you know what I mean. Little touches that suggest someone actually thought about how people live, not just how they pose for Instagram photos. I particularly loved having a proper kitchen area because honestly, eating out every meal gets exhausting (and expensive). Being able to grab groceries and make coffee the way I like it? Game changer. The 8.6 rating makes total sense once you're there -- it's not trying to be flashy or revolutionary, just genuinely comfortable and well-thought-out. Sure, it's a 3-star place, but those stars are working harder than usual. You leave feeling like you discovered something good rather than just stayed somewhere adequate, which is exactly what travel should feel like.

Well-kept, clean apartment close to Berlin center.
The appartement was near to a metro station and from there we could go to the center easily (about 30 minutes).
The apartment was clean with very good fascilities. It is centrally located in Charlottenburg, 5 minutes walk to the palace, bus stop just outside the door and bus 109 just 5 minutes walk that litterally takes you to the center. Caroline our host manager was very accommodating and facilitated our stay. We would book this place in a heartbeat. Highly recomended.
Very good correspondence before arrival, with clear instructions. Caroline met us at the apartment and went over everything, she was extremely helpful and very welcoming. The apartment is very well equipped and very comfortable for a city break. It is close to underground services so easy to get around the city. Thank you Caroline
- Good value for money
Great location, close to U and S-Bahn, comfortable beds, hot water, equipped kitchen, clean.
Clean spacious and comfortable Simply and stylishly furnished Friendly helpful welcome from Ekaterina Close to restaurants and transport links
A very nicely renovated and modernised place with all the contemporary conveniences- two toilets, dishwasher, microwave and cooking with pots and pans so it was convenient to cook in, from toast to pasta or a pot roast. Nice quiet street and neighbourhood. The rooms were super quiet as they were off the street. Having the two bedrooms at separate ends was also good privacy. There’s a very good washer and dryer to refresh clothing for longer stays. The unit was a short walk to Rewe supermarket, with a few local bars and restaurants on the way, plus an easy location for Uber and taxi to access. We stayed for a convention at Messe Berlin and this was about 12mins Uber or 40 min easy and interesting walk through ast the palace and cobblestone streets.
The apartment was a great size for our few days stay, was close to restaurants, supermarket and play grounds. Staff were helpful and only a call away. We were greeted by Simon upon arrival who was waiting at the apartment for us. Would highly recommend. Great little kitchen with everything you could need.
Sam met us on site and everything went very smoothly. The property was great for our needs. Everything was very clean and modern and the beds were very comfortable.
