About this stay

About

You know what caught me off guard about this place? The moment I walked in, I realized this wasn't your typical hotel at all – it's actually a converted apartment in one of those gorgeous old German buildings, the kind with thick walls and character that modern places just can't replicate. The name literally translates to "old building apartment with 3 bathrooms," which honestly tells you everything you need to know about the practical German approach to naming things.

Here's the thing that makes this spot genuinely special – having three full bathrooms in what's essentially an apartment setup is kind of brilliant if you're traveling with family or a group. I mean, no more bathroom queues in the morning, and you can actually spread out without feeling like you're living on top of each other. The space feels lived-in rather than sterile, with those high ceilings and original hardwood floors that creak just enough to remind you you're staying somewhere with actual history. The windows are massive – typical of these Altbau buildings – so you get this flood of natural light that makes even gray days feel brighter. What I really appreciated was how they've managed to modernize everything (the bathrooms are actually quite sleek) without destroying the original charm of the place.

The 8.1 rating makes perfect sense once you've stayed here – it's not luxury in the marble-and-gold sense, but it's comfortable and thoughtfully set up. The kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to grab groceries and cook, which can be a lifesaver when you're tired of restaurant meals. Check-in was straightforward, though I'd recommend confirming the exact process beforehand since apartment-style places sometimes handle things differently than traditional hotels. Location-wise, you're dealing with a residential area rather than tourist central, which means it's quieter at night but you might need to walk or take transit to get to major sights. Parking can be tricky in these older neighborhoods – something to sort out in advance if you're driving. The whole experience feels more like borrowing a friend's well-appointed apartment than staying in a hotel, and for some trips, that's exactly what you want.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Berlin at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak summer season when the city hosts numerous outdoor festivals and cultural events.

A perfect apartment for us, two families with five children ages 11-15.

It is large apartment with rooms located far from each other, so you don't hear your travel mates: We liked soundproof. Apartment was equipped with almost everything we needed, from coffee machine, kettle to microwave. Location was very good with short walk distance to the train station. A lot of parking places along the street, we liked that we could pay with EasyPark application. We felt safe for our cars being parked there.
