Apartment Abendstern
About
You know what caught me off guard about Apartment Abendstern? The name literally means "evening star" in German, and honestly, that's pretty much how this place feels – sort of quietly brilliant once you settle in. It's tucked right on Stuttgarter Platz, which I'll admit doesn't sound super glamorous, but here's the thing about this corner of Charlottenburg – you're actually in one of those perfect Berlin pockets where real life happens without all the tourist chaos.
The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense Berlin architecture that grows on you. I mean, it's not going to win any Instagram contests, but there's something reassuring about those thick walls (you'll barely hear your neighbors, which is honestly rare in this city). The apartments – and yeah, these are proper apartments, not just hotel rooms with a mini-fridge – feel lived-in in the best way possible. My kitchen actually had decent counter space and a full-size refrigerator, which was clutch since there's a Rewe just around the corner on Kantstraße. The furniture's a bit dated, sure, but everything works and it's clean, and after a long day exploring Berlin, that couch becomes your best friend.
What really sells this place though is the neighborhood vibe. You're maybe ten minutes' walk from the chaos of Kurfürstendamm if you want the big-city shopping experience, but step outside Abendstern and you're immediately in residential Berlin – tree-lined streets, actual German families walking their dogs, little bakeries where the staff doesn't automatically switch to English. There's this Turkish place, Efes, literally two blocks away that does incredible döner (trust me on this), and if you walk five minutes toward Savignyplatz, you'll hit some of the best independent bookshops and cafes in the city. The S-Bahn connections are solid too – Charlottenburg station gets you anywhere you need to go, though I'd grab a monthly transit pass because Berlin's public transport adds up quick.
Look, this isn't luxury accommodation, and the 7.2 rating tells you it's not perfect – I noticed the shower pressure could be better, and don't expect daily housekeeping like a traditional hotel. But what you get is authentic Berlin living without the premium price tag, and in a city where decent accommodation can cost a fortune, Abendstern delivers exactly what it promises. If you're the type who wants to actually live somewhere rather than just sleep there, and you appreciate being around real Berliners instead of just other tourists, this evening star might be exactly what you're looking for.

excellent for short stay, easy access to transit
Excellent location, easy access
Despite policies, some renters are loud late into the night (midnight) and early morning (6-7 am)
Great location and price for value
Clean, great location, containing all amenities that two friends need for visiting Berlin for a concert. Window to inner yard with fresh air and bird singing
Not much to say, maybe the mattress was little too soft
Very good
Location, very handy to train and bus, several shops around, bathroom and toilet, small kitchen, lift, cleaness.
Room size is not big. Lift stop is on half of the stories.
Good
The location of this apartment is superb.U bahn stations and market were just a minutes walk away. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly. The room was a bit small but we stayed there for only two nights so it was overall a comfortable stay. All facilities were there in the room as described. Worth for money.
We prepared the food at the apartment only so found that the utensils were a little bit not enough. The big plates to eat,the spatula to cook were a little less otherwise the room had everything for a comfortable stay.
It was a wonderful experience for stay . Worth every penny but definitely can improve and be best.
The property location is well connected to transport , the property can be easily accessed 24*7 . I rented the apartment, it was well equipped with kitchenette, there was enough space according to studio apartment.
The property could be more concentrated towards cleaning and providing different gels for shampoo , body wash and hand wash . The heater in the room was not working efficiently .
Very good
Very friendly service, rooms were clean, beds were comfortable. For the location near Berlin Messe this is a very good value for money accommodation.
The only downside was the weak pressure of the hot water in the shower, but it is not a big issue. There is a paid parking but the height of the parking is very low, only regular cars fit, keep in mind large SUVs or vans do not fit. Anyway at night it is not difficult to find parking on the street.
A pleasant and practical place to stay in Berlin
Good location – just a short walk to Charlottenburg Station. Comfortable room and helpful staffs. Plenty of halal restaurants nearby which was very convenient. Overall a great value for money
The lift was out of service gor our first night & the following morning there. Otherwise it would be perfect.
Nice
Location was near Metro and the least expensive in the zone.
Very good
Located in an area where train, metro and bus services were very easy to avail. All types of shops and supermarkets are nearby. Very good worth of the money.
The bathroom geiser was making noise. Only one big room accommodated four guests. Old and overused carpet. The sofa bed wasn't very comfortable.
Very good
The staff was very friendly and accommodating
The apartment was cold and while the staff tried offering solutions, nothing was solved. They said the heating was off in the building so they offered us an electric heater, but it was just a normal cold fan. Still, the staff did try to accommodate to our needs, so cordiality and customer care was always present.
