Beautiful Backyard Remise
About
You know what? I almost walked right past Beautiful Backyard Remise the first time I tried to find it. It's tucked away in this quiet residential area where you'd never expect to stumble across a hotel – which honestly turned out to be one of its biggest charms. The building itself is this converted carriage house (remise literally means carriage house, I learned), and there's something really satisfying about staying somewhere with actual history instead of another glass box hotel. The entrance is through what feels like someone's private courtyard, complete with ivy climbing the walls and the kind of worn cobblestones that make your wheeled suitcase rattle just enough to remind you you're somewhere old.
The whole place has this lived-in quality that three-star ratings don't always capture. My room was small – I mean, genuinely small, not "cozy European charm" small – but everything felt intentional. The bed was actually comfortable (you never know with boutique places), and the windows opened onto the backyard that gives the place its name. That backyard, by the way, is where you'll probably end up spending your mornings if the weather's decent. There are these mismatched tables and chairs scattered around, and the coffee situation is surprisingly good for a place this size. I watched the owner – or maybe just someone who really cared about the plants – puttering around the garden beds most mornings, which gave the whole scene this authentic residential vibe you just can't manufacture.
What really won me over was how quiet it gets at night. You're close enough to walk to the main drag in about ten minutes, but once you're back in that courtyard, the city noise just sort of... disappears. The walls are thick enough that I never heard my neighbors, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no elaborate lobby performance, just someone who knew where everything was and actually answered my questions about the neighborhood. Parking's street parking only, which was fine most of the time but did require a bit of circling during busy periods. The 8.6 rating makes sense to me – it's not trying to be fancy, but it gets the important stuff right and has enough character that you'll remember staying there. If you're looking for a pool or room service, this isn't your place, but if you want to feel like you're staying in someone's well-kept secret rather than a hotel chain, you'll probably love it here.

We needed a location near Bard and this apartment worked perfectly for us.
Good ubication
A beautiful apartment in a very quiet location in Pankow. The apartment is fully equipped, the hostess is very kind and helpful, and the apartment is exactly as shown in the pictures. There are several shops and restaurants in the vicinity, and public transport to the city center is a 3-minute walk away. Directly opposite the house is also a beautiful park that even has some domestic animals
Good location for car parking and using public transportation
Very clean place, quiet and private.. The host was superb friendly and helpful.
In general all OK
characterful, lovely location
This property is tucked away in a little courtyard that has been nicely planted, so it feels safe and it is in a green space. The layout of the property is lovely too. The kitchen/ lounge are cosy, and I loved the floor heating. Jona, the host, was super quick when we needed anything . We asked for extra bedding and a tea towel and both items were provided within the hour. Many thanks for your quick response Jona.
The little courtyard made it feel really secluded. The underfloor heating was a wonderful bonus.
