Crowne Plaza Berlin City Centre Ku’damm by IHG
About
You know what struck me first about the Crowne Plaza on Nuernberger Strasse? It's tucked into this surprisingly quiet pocket of Schöneberg, just off the main Ku'damm chaos but close enough that you can hear the city humming in the background. I mean, you're literally a three-minute walk from all that shopping madness on Kurfürstendamm, but when you step into the lobby, there's this immediate sense of... well, breathing room. The space feels properly grown-up without being stuffy – think clean lines, muted grays and blues, and staff who actually seem to know what they're doing rather than just going through the motions.
Here's the thing about this particular stretch of Berlin – it's where the locals actually hang out. Walk five minutes toward Winterfeldtplatz and you'll hit the Saturday market that tourists somehow miss, plus some genuinely excellent Turkish-German fusion spots that'll ruin you for airport food forever. The hotel sits right in this sweet spot where you can stumble back from a late dinner in Kreuzberg (the U-Bahn connections are honestly perfect) or grab morning coffee at that little place on Motzstraße before the business crowd descends. The rooms themselves are... look, they're not going to win design awards, but they're thoughtfully done. Good blackout curtains – crucial in Berlin summers when it stays light until practically midnight. The bathrooms have those rainfall showerheads that actually work, and there's enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling like you're living in a closet. What I really appreciated was the soundproofing; even facing the street side, you're not dealing with the 3 AM delivery trucks that plague some of the Ku'damm hotels.
The breakfast situation deserves a mention too – it's that perfect balance of German basics (proper bread, not the sweet stuff Americans expect) and international options that don't feel like an afterthought. Plus the coffee's strong enough to handle whatever Berlin threw at you the night before. Honestly, for an IHG property, this one gets the local vibe without trying too hard. The concierge actually knows which U-Bahn entrance to use for Potsdamer Platz during construction season, and they'll point you toward Zur Letzten Instanz instead of just handing you the same tourist restaurant card everyone else gets. It's the kind of place where you can bring clients for drinks in the lobby bar without embarrassment, but you'll also feel comfortable rolling in wearing yesterday's jeans after a long day wandering the East Side Gallery.

Amazing stay in fab hotel
The staff were so friendly. Beds so comfortable and breakfast amazing! Also best Espresso Martini I've ever tasted feom the bar.
The pool was quite cold
Superb
We enjoyed our stay and will certainly return should we visit Berlin again. The staff we very welcoming, the room was lovely and clean and the breakfast was superb.
The only complaint was related to the leisure facilities. The pool was great and an ideal option for families BUT the sauna should really only be for adults. Even children accompanied by parents is unacceptable and really the question that needs to be asked is why a child would want to sit in a hot sauna ? During our short stay there were unaccompanied children, maybe aged 8 and 10 playing in and out of the sauna. Totally unacceptable in my mind.
Superb location, great breakfast and comfortable stay for business travel
The location is superb, making it really convenient to get around. The breakfast area was great – very spacious and cleverly split into two sections offering the same variety, which really helped avoid queues. The food selection was also excellent. The room was a decent size with comfortable beds, and despite being right in the centre, I wasn’t disturbed by any outside noise at all.
The reception staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and very busy, though they still remained professional. The rooms did feel a little tired, but for business travel, they were perfectly fine.
Great location
The location is great.
Good variety of food for breakfast, but quality of ingredients could improve. Also, the sauna showers could be cleaner.
