Garner Hotel Berlin – Ku’Damm
About
Look, I'll be honest – when I first pulled up to the Garner Hotel Berlin on Paderborner Straße, I wasn't exactly blown away by the exterior. It's tucked into this quiet residential stretch in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, and you know what? That actually turned out to be one of its biggest selling points. While everyone's fighting for spots right on Ku'Damm itself, this place gives you that local Berlin neighborhood feel without sacrificing convenience.
The thing about this area – and I mean, you really have to walk around to get it – is that you're genuinely living like a Berliner for a few days. There's this fantastic Turkish bakery just two blocks down that opens ridiculously early (perfect if you're dealing with jet lag), and the U-Bahn connection at Blissestraße gets you to the main shopping district in maybe eight minutes. I actually preferred walking though – it's one of those tree-lined streets where you pass actual apartment buildings instead of tourist traps, which honestly made the whole trip feel more authentic. The hotel itself is solid three-star territory, nothing fancy but they've clearly put thought into the details that matter. My room was smaller than what you'd get in an American chain, but the bed was surprisingly comfortable and – this is key in Berlin summers – the air conditioning actually worked. The staff at check-in spoke perfect English, though they seemed genuinely pleased when I attempted my terrible German.
What I really appreciated was the breakfast setup. Not some massive buffet situation, but quality stuff – proper German breads, local cheeses, and coffee that didn't taste like it came from a machine (well, it probably did, but a good machine). The dining area gets morning light from these big windows facing the street, so you can people-watch while planning your day. Parking was surprisingly manageable too, which anyone who's driven in Berlin will tell you is basically a minor miracle. I mean, it's not free, but there's actually space and you don't feel like you're gambling with your car's safety. The neighborhood goes pretty quiet after 9 PM – not dead quiet, just that comfortable residential hum that actually helps you sleep. And here's something I didn't expect: the soundproofing between rooms was genuinely good. No hearing your neighbor's TV or phone conversations, which has definitely not been my experience at every Berlin hotel.
Is it going to wow you with luxury amenities? No, and it's not trying to. But if you want a clean, comfortable base in a real Berlin neighborhood where you can grab groceries at the REWE down the street, walk to excellent restaurants that locals actually eat at, and still be on Museum Island in twenty minutes – well, this place gets it right. The 7.7 rating makes sense to me. It's not perfect, but it delivers on what it promises without any unpleasant surprises.

Very nice hotel overall
The staff are super friendly and extremely helpful.
The location wasn’t my favorite and the elevator was a bit sketchy.
Great hotel but sound isolation could be better
I stayed alone for one night in a regular room, the room and the hotel seems freshly renovated, everything is still new and looks and works as expected. Room was very clean, spacious enough and very comfortable beds too.
If I had one problem it would be the room sound isolation, I could hear people next door talking and hear water from their shower very clearly. Expected for old buildings despite the new renovation.
Very good
Great location, nice staff, comfortable room with a comfy armchair and a good desk/working space. It was easy to connect the TV to my phone, which is always a plus. Breakfast was pretty great.
1. The shower was half broken. The rainshower wasn't working and the shower head couldn't be fixed at a height. 2. Two twin bed mattresses together, which is not very comfortable. Also, tiny twin blankets. 3. I was told I could check in early but when I came they said I should have reserved 24h in advance, so I had to wait in the lobby, which was okay.
Peaceful environment and relaxing atmosphere in hotel. Good transport connections from the city.
I really like this hotels breakfast, also staff is friendly and helpful. Ideal hotel for work travels, peaceful environment and relaxing atmosphere in the room. Good transport connections from the city center and the airport.
Superb
The whole place is cozy and very clean, the room was spacious and pretty, the bed very comfortable. Yummy breakfast and checkout at 12 is a bonus.
I was lacking a kettle and some tea/coffee in the room, it would seal the quality experience.
Cozy, clean and comfortable hotel
Everything was very clean and bed was made every day by room service. Location was amazing with a lot of places to eat or drink, also metro station 5 minutes from property. Hotel staff friendly and helpful, talking in English. Highly recommend.

Short and sweet
Nice room, friendly staff
Had to use 2 beds as a double bed but was told, that’s how it is in German
Superb
This hotel fulfilled my needs for a short business stay. All was good, including the breakfast, at a very reasonable cost.
The location is not the most central, but it is quite close to the metro.
Very good
Clean bedrooms, good location. We chose the hotel because we needed a safe space to park the car, but they only had 3 or 4 spots that were taken during our whole stay, so we ended up parking for free in the streets.
Everything was fine, but we asked for a double bed, and got two beds put together that separated into a hole during the night which is inconvenient but not the end of the world. All in all, great value for it's price.
Very good
Good breakfast
