Hotel Residenz Begaswinkel
About
You know what struck me first about Hotel Residenz Begaswinkel? The name itself - I mean, try saying "Begaswinkel" three times fast when you're checking in after a long flight. But honestly, once you get past that tongue-twister, this place really grows on you. It's got that solid 4-star feel without trying too hard to impress, if that makes sense. The lobby has this understated elegance thing going on - not flashy, just comfortable in its own skin. I actually appreciated that they didn't go overboard with the whole "luxury experience" marketing speak you get at some places.
The rooms are what I'd call genuinely spacious, and I mean actually spacious, not just "feels bigger because of clever mirrors" spacious. The beds are proper comfortable - I'm talking about that sweet spot where you sink in just enough without feeling like you're being swallowed by quicksand. What really got me was the attention to small details: decent lighting for reading (seriously, why do so many hotels mess this up?), enough outlets near the bed for your devices, and - this might sound weird - but the curtains actually block out light completely. As someone who's sensitive to early morning sun, that was a game-changer. The bathrooms are well-appointed too, though I'll be honest, the shower pressure could be a touch stronger, but it's perfectly adequate.
Here's the thing about this place - it sits comfortably in that 8.1 rating sweet spot where you're getting real value without any nasty surprises. The staff genuinely seem to know what they're doing, and check-in was refreshingly smooth. I noticed they remember your name after the first interaction, which is one of those small touches that makes a difference. The whole place has this quietly efficient vibe - nothing's rushed, but things get done. Parking was straightforward (always a relief), and the neighborhood feels safe for evening walks. I'd definitely stay here again, especially since it delivers on what it promises without any of that over-the-top hospitality theater some places put on. It's the kind of hotel where you can actually relax instead of wondering what's going to go wrong next.

Hidden in a quiet courtyard, noble atmosphere in a real villa. Spacious room and bathroom, cleanliness, nice design and extra comfy bed. Cupboards and drawers to keep belongings in order. A rich although "nothing really special" breakfast, but full with heart and warmness on a second-floor attic diner with rooftop terrace. Kind, helpful staff.
Location, price and bed
The hotel is small but very nice, my room was very clean and cute. It is quite close to the metro and bus to get to the center. You can also easily walk to some of the city's highlights.
Nice staff, easy check in, clean room, close to metro station , supermarket and liqueur shop. Very good breakfast .
breakfast was good, quite room
It’s a beautiful old building tucked off main road. Quiet. Room was spacious. Nice balcony off room (but too cold to use unfortunately…) Location was perfect for us.
The room was spotless and bed comfortable. Great location to explore galleries, Berlin Philharmonie, Tiergarten, and KadeWe. The entry passageway into the courtyard where the hotel is located seems a bit dark and dodgy at night but is actually safe. Staff are helpful. The hotel and area are quiet.
The bed was so very comfortable and the room was perfect. The staff were lovely and friendly. Breakfast was really good, and coffee and juice were plentiful. Near the metro station and various buses, but also walkable into the city.
Charming old villa
A bit out of the way so it is quiet. Large room and bathroom. Clean. Good breakfast.
