Mercure Hotel Berlin City West
About
Look, I'll be honest – when I first pulled up to the Mercure Hotel Berlin City West on Ohmstraße, I wasn't expecting much. Spandau isn't exactly the first district that comes to mind when you think "exciting Berlin stay," but you know what? Sometimes being a bit off the beaten path works in your favor. This place sits in a pretty quiet residential area, which means you're not dealing with the party crowds stumbling around Mitte at 3 AM, but you're also not stuck in some sterile business district either.
The hotel itself is solid 4-star territory – nothing that'll blow your mind, but they've got their act together. Check-in was actually smooth (the staff spoke decent English, which honestly isn't always a given in Spandau), and the lobby has that clean, modern Mercure vibe without feeling too corporate. The rooms are what you'd expect – comfortable beds, reliable wifi, and those big windows that German hotels do so well. I mean, it's not boutique charming, but after a long day of walking around Berlin, you just want everything to work properly, and it does. The shower pressure was solid, the AC kept up during a hot summer week, and the blackout curtains actually blocked out the morning light.
Here's the thing about staying in Spandau – you're about a 20-minute S-Bahn ride to the city center, but the Stresow station is literally a few minutes' walk away, so getting around is pretty straightforward once you figure out the rhythm. Plus, there's something kind of nice about coming back to this quieter corner after spending the day in touristy Mitte or Kreuzberg. The neighborhood has some decent spots for dinner too – there's a Turkish place called Anatolia just down the street that locals actually go to, not just hotel guests looking for the nearest restaurant. And if you need groceries or pharmacy runs, there's a small shopping area nearby that has the basics covered. The hotel breakfast was... well, it's a standard German hotel breakfast. Good bread, decent coffee, those little jars of jam. Nothing spectacular, but it'll get you started for the day. Parking was easy and free, which if you're driving in Berlin, you know that's not something to take for granted. The 7 out of 10 rating feels about right – it's not going to be the highlight of your Berlin trip, but it's not going to disappoint you either.
Hotels in Berlin offer guests the perfect blend of German efficiency and modern comfort, with many featuring historical tour concierge services and traditional beer garden experiences to enhance the authentic German cultural experience.

Excellente value for money.
The room was very spacious and confortable.
Good
Absence restaurace
Great two days stay in a great location and lovely to sit round the pool. Would return.
It was very close to the U station and with heavy bags that was great. They also had our room ready an hour early which was appreciated! It’s a nice little hotel with a small pool out back which my son loved. We went to a concert at the Zitadelle which is 4 stops away which was brilliant!
It was all fine except it would look smarter with the front doors fixed - broken glass doors.
A pleasant stay
Free parking, nice team at the reception, metro station nearby.
The carpet, perfectible cleanless.
Very good
Parking for free, nice staff, really comfortable beds.
Location is a bit far from Berlin city centre
Exciting & convenient.
We found it met our needs & we felt like we were home just came & went as we pleased.
I found the 2quilts on the bed frustrating inconvient & annoying. I prefer a queen / king size quilt.
Value for money comfortable and warm walking distance to local restaurants, and supermarket. Short Uber ride or tube to
Location was great for tube travel
Advertised a restaurant on site. However only breakfast service was available
good option within affordable price
The room has completely all of the facilities inside
Air conditioner was not cold at all, therefore the situation was somehow warm
Very good
The pool, the location, decent room
Not the best area of Berlin but at least it's by a station
I'd recommend to friends esp. closeness to underground and the friendly helpful staff
Coffee, cereals and esp the bread were fantastic. The room was spotless, comfortable and quiet. Receptionist were helpful and waitresses welcoming.
There were no meat free alternatives. We prefer a VEGAN diet and this was poorly catered for, although we enjoyed what we were able to eat.
