Mercure Hotel Berlin Tempelhof
About
You know what struck me first about the Mercure Berlin Tempelhof? The fact that it sits right in the shadow of that massive former airport - and I mean that in the best possible way. Tempelhof isn't just some random district anymore, it's become this fascinating blend of history and hip Berlin culture, and this hotel actually gets that. The building itself has this solid, unpretentious feel that somehow fits perfectly with the neighborhood's industrial-meets-artsy vibe. I mean, you're literally staying where planes used to take off during the Berlin Airlift, which is pretty wild when you think about it.
The rooms are what I'd call "smart comfortable" - nothing flashy, but everything works exactly like it should. The beds are actually decent (which honestly surprised me for a mid-range chain hotel), and the soundproofing is solid enough that you won't hear your neighbor's TV or the street noise from Tempelhofer Damm. What I really appreciated were the little touches that show someone was thinking - good lighting for reading, enough outlets near the bed, and windows that open properly for fresh air. The bathrooms are compact but functional, with those rainfall showerheads that actually have decent pressure. Pro tip: rooms facing the park side are quieter, though honestly, even the street-facing ones aren't too bad.
Here's the thing about staying in Tempelhof - you're perfectly positioned between the touristy center and real Berlin life. Tempelhof Park is right there for morning runs or lazy afternoon picnics (locals fly kites on that old runway, which never gets old to watch), and you can catch the U6 from Platz der Luftbrücke in about three minutes on foot. The hotel staff seems to get that most guests are curious about the area - they'll point you toward Bergmannstraße for dinner or let you know when the weekend markets are happening. Check-in was surprisingly smooth, even when I arrived early on a Sunday afternoon, and they stored my luggage without any fuss. The breakfast is standard hotel fare - nothing to write home about, but it'll fuel you up for a day of exploring. If you're looking for that sweet spot between convenient and authentic Berlin, this place delivers without trying too hard to impress.

The location was near to shops and perfect for my needs the staff was helpful overall I enjoyed my stay here.
In an area that can seem a bit rough, this mid-range hotel is located which is really good. Good rooms (although a little smoke smell lingers in non-shrimp rooms), decently spacious. Really good breakfast too.
Comfortable bed, room temperature was perfect, the bedroom and the bathroom were clean, free internet connection was fast enough, the little refrigerator turned out useful, the satellite TV allowed us to watch some programs in Italian
Clean and tidy hotel room. Bed was very comfortable. We appreciated early check-in.
I was upgraded from a standard room to a very comfortable room with large double bed, large TV, comfortable seating etc
