Moxy Berlin Ostbahnhof
About
You know what struck me first about the Moxy Berlin Ostbahnhof? It's got this playful energy that somehow works perfectly in a neighborhood that's still figuring itself out. I mean, Ostbahnhof isn't exactly tourist central – it's more like where real Berliners actually live and work – but that's exactly why this place feels so authentic. The hotel sits right in this interesting mix of old East Berlin grit and new development, and honestly, it captures that vibe better than most places trying way too hard to be "hip."
The lobby hits you with this sort of industrial-chic thing (yeah, I know how that sounds, but bear with me) that actually feels genuine rather than Instagram-manufactured. There's this communal table where people are genuinely hanging out – not just posing for photos – and the check-in process is refreshingly straightforward. The staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood too, which is rarer than you'd think. One person told me about this killer Vietnamese place just a few blocks away that I never would've found otherwise. The rooms are compact but cleverly designed – everything has a purpose, nothing feels like filler. The bed's honestly one of the more comfortable ones I've slept in lately, and the shower pressure is solid (trust me, after walking around Berlin all day, this matters).
What I really appreciated was how the location works in practice. Sure, you're not stumbling distance from Brandenburg Gate, but the S-Bahn connection is right there, and you can get pretty much anywhere in the city within 20 minutes. Plus, this area has some genuinely good late-night food options – there's a 24-hour döner place that locals actually go to, not just drunk tourists. The neighborhood gets quiet at night too, which was a nice surprise given how close you are to the train station. I was expecting constant noise, but the rooms are well-insulated. Honestly, staying here gave me a better sense of how Berlin actually functions as a city where people live, not just a museum of Cold War history and techno clubs. It's got that 4-star polish without feeling sterile, and the 8.1 rating makes sense – it's the kind of place that does what it promises without any weird surprises. If you want to experience Berlin beyond the obvious tourist spots while still having a comfortable base, this actually delivers on that promise.

The staff were amazing me and my friends loved it
Well run hotel with a very nice vibe to the place, washing room with ironing boards was helpful, I would stay here again.
Modern, friendly and great location. Just a short walk to the wall. Free drink on arrival.
Location, staff, mattress, lighting
The price was really great, but we managed to book the hotel through the Black Friday offer so it was a bit lower than usual. Location is excellent - you have the Ostbahnhof nearby which is your connection to the whole city. Alternatively, you have the bus station right in front of the hotel if you decide to ride through the city, not under it. Staff is extremely nice, and the lounge filled with board games is nice touch. Also, you have the option to make coffee and tee free of charge 24h a day.
The staff and design. Also great value for money. Very uncomplicated.
