Ocak Aparthotel
About
You know what? The Ocak Aparthotel caught me off guard in the best way possible. When I first rolled up to Jülicher Straße, I'll admit I was wondering if I'd made the right call booking a 3-star place in Wedding – but honestly, this little spot has character that bigger hotels just can't fake. The building itself has that classic Berlin brick facade that's been weathered just right, and you can tell someone actually cares about maintaining it without trying to make it all shiny and soulless.
The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know Berlin at all. I mean, you're right in the heart of Mitte but on this quieter residential street that locals use as a shortcut to avoid the tourist chaos around Alexanderplatz. There's this fantastic Turkish bakery literally two doors down – I'm talking proper börek that'll ruin you for the airport stuff forever – and the U-Bahn station is close enough that you can hear the trains if your window's open, but it's not annoying, more like a gentle reminder that the whole city is at your fingertips. The apartments themselves feel lived-in rather than sterile, which I really appreciated. My kitchenette was small but had everything I actually needed (not just random gadgets for show), and the bed was surprisingly comfortable for a place that's clearly more focused on being practical than luxurious.
What really sold me on this place was how it feels authentically Berlin without trying too hard. The staff at check-in spoke perfect English but weren't overly chatty – very German in that refreshingly direct way. The building gets busy around 8 AM when everyone's heading to work, and you'll hear people coming and going, but it dies down completely by 10 PM, so if you're looking for party central, this isn't it. But if you want to feel like you're actually living in the neighborhood rather than just passing through it, the Ocak hits that sweet spot. Plus, and this matters more than people think, the shower pressure is excellent and the WiFi doesn't cut out every five minutes like so many places in older Berlin buildings. For the price point and that 7.5 rating, it's honestly delivering exactly what it promises – nothing fancy, but everything you need, in a spot where you can grab amazing döner at midnight or catch the sunrise from Volkspark Humboldthain if you're into that sort of thing.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Berlin at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak summer season when the city hosts numerous outdoor festivals and cultural events.

Reasonable price and easy to get to from airport
Easy check in/out. Clean room
No cooking facilities unless pay more. No different to a normal hotel room
Great location , ease of getting to brandenburg where most tours started from.aldi across the road
Location across from railway arm and supermarket.
Refrigerator not working. Service in restaurant was terrible.
Very comfortable and well positioned. Highly recommended
It was very helpful late at night having the restaurant facility after a very long delayed train journey. The aparthotel is also very conveniently positioned for Gesunbrunnen Station.
The restaurant is laid out principally as a breakfast room. It would present better if tables were set out in a style more like a restaurant instead of around the walls. The price of the wine seemed on the expensive side! Our lampshade for the main light appeared to have a large quantity of debris inside, almost like dead flies or something. How this or they got there is very strange as the aparthotel is virtually hermetically sealed!
Very good
Very close to public transport and local shops
Time sauna opened
Visit from Australia
Staff were all lovely. Restaurant had great food and bed was very comfortable.
There was no milk or water provided. A coffee machine with pods would be great.
An excellent hotel with fantastic staff and services. Very good location as well.
Excellent breakfast and superb location
Oh generally everything was okay A
Superb
It's clean and the bed is comfortable.
The breakfast is too expensive, 24 Euro is kina a lot. It's a good continental breakfast, and the workers are filling everything up, but the price is off-putting.
