Premier Inn Berlin City Centre
About
Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from Premier Inn Berlin City Centre when I first walked through those sliding glass doors – I mean, it's a chain hotel, right? But you know what struck me immediately? The lobby actually felt alive, buzzing with that perfect mix of business travelers grabbing quick coffees and families sprawled across those comfortable purple chairs (Premier Inn's signature color, which somehow works better in person than it sounds).
The thing about this place is it sits right in the thick of things without feeling chaotic. You're literally a five-minute walk from Alexanderplatz – and I'm talking a real five minutes, not that inflated hotel-speak version where they count from the back entrance. The TV Tower looms right there, which is either charming or slightly oppressive depending on your mood. What I love is that you can duck into the nearby S-Bahn station and be anywhere in the city within twenty minutes, but when you come back at night, the street actually quiets down. The rooms facing away from the main drag are surprisingly peaceful – I was worried about tram noise, but those double-glazed windows do their job.
The rooms themselves are classic Premier Inn, which means they're not going to wow you with design, but everything just... works. Those Hypnos beds they're always going on about? Actually pretty great after a day of pounding Berlin's cobblestones. The shower has proper pressure (thank god), and there's enough space to spread out your stuff without playing suitcase Tetris. What really won me over was the little stuff – USB ports right by the bed, blackout curtains that actually block light, and a desk that's big enough to use if you need to get work done. The air conditioning runs quietly too, which matters more than you'd think during those surprisingly muggy Berlin summers.
Staff-wise, they're genuinely helpful without being overly chatty – very Berlin, actually. The front desk sorted out a dinner reservation for me at this little Turkish place around the corner that I never would've found otherwise. Speaking of food, the Premier Inn breakfast is solid if unremarkable, but honestly, with all the bakeries and cafés within stumbling distance, you'd be crazy to limit yourself to hotel food. There's this incredible little coffee roastery about three blocks south that opens at 7 AM – perfect for early risers who want something better than hotel lobby coffee.
Look, this isn't the kind of place that's going to become part of your travel story, but sometimes that's exactly what you want. It's clean, comfortable, and puts you right where you need to be without breaking the bank. The 8.5 rating makes sense – it over-delivers on the basics while staying refreshingly unpretentious. If you're the type who spends most of your time exploring the city anyway, Premier Inn Berlin City Centre is honestly one of the smarter choices in the area.

There is a huge choice for breakfast and the food was cooked perfectly
The hotel was as expected for a Premier Inn. The room was clean and quiet. Fairly close to a subway station but quite a long way from the city centre. Very happy with the stay.
Very friendly and helpful staff, clean and cozy room, nice breakfast, nice location not far from Zoo and Aquarium.
Wish they open outside Germany, 100% value for money
