Ruhige Ferienwohnung in Kreuzberg
About
So I stumbled upon this apartment on Gneisenaustraße completely by accident – well, honestly, I was just looking for something affordable in Kreuzberg that wasn't a total dive. The building itself is pretty typical for the area, you know, that classic Berlin mix of slightly weathered charm and actual character. It's on the first floor (which means second floor if you're American), and there's this lovely sense of being right in the thick of things without the street noise driving you completely mad.
What really got me was how genuinely quiet it is inside – I mean, you're literally a five-minute walk from Mehringdamm U-Bahn station, and Bergmannstraße with all its cafes and that amazing Saturday market is right around the corner. The apartment has this lived-in feel that's actually comforting rather than worn down, if that makes sense. The previous guests clearly weren't party animals because everything felt well-maintained, and there's decent natural light coming through the windows. I was there in October, so not exactly peak sunshine season, but it still felt bright enough during the day. The kitchen's properly equipped too – not just some sad mini-fridge situation – which is perfect because honestly, eating out in Berlin every meal gets expensive fast, even with how reasonable the city is compared to other capitals.
The neighborhood context is what really makes this place though. You've got Viktoriapark just a short walk south (great for morning runs or evening wine sessions on the hill), and if you head north toward Checkpoint Charlie – though really, don't bother with that tourist trap – you'll hit some fantastic Turkish restaurants and late-night spots. The 8.7 rating makes total sense because it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretentious extras. There's reliable wifi, the shower has proper pressure, and the beds are actually comfortable, not those rock-hard European mattresses that leave you feeling like you've been sleeping on concrete. Parking's typical Berlin nightmare if you're driving, but honestly, why would you drive here when the public transport is so good? The U6 and U7 lines intersect nearby, so you can get pretty much anywhere in the city without much hassle. Check-in was straightforward – none of that awkward dance where you're standing around wondering if you're at the right building. I'd definitely stay here again, especially for longer trips when you want to feel like you're actually living in Berlin rather than just passing through it.

Superb
Location was great and apartment was very comfortable and clean. Check-in was easy.
Door handle on inside of bathroom comes off. No issues, but owner should be alerted.
Great location, perfect size, everything one would need both in apartment and in the neighborhood.

Nothing. It was perfect.
Perfect Visit of Berlin
Communication with owner was Superb
Very safe bet if you are traveling in group and looking for a place near to city.
Fantastic apartment. Good equipped kitchen. Comfy beds. Fantastic location.
Finding parking was a nightmare. Berlin central city is difficult to park
A good place for active adults to stay to experience Berlin
Location was great and handy for sightseeing in Berlin. There were many good restaurants nearby. The property was very clean and spacious.
The description said there was a washing machine but there wasn't. This influenced our packing choices as we stayed for a week. Although there was an option to ask the host to wash our clothes it's not quite the same and the host was out of town. The beds had to be accessed with a ladder which was ok but would have been unsuitable if we were travelling with young children or elderly relatives. Access to the flat itself would be tricky for young parents with prams or those with mobiity issues.
Great location, quiet, warm apartment and well equipped.
Nice spacious apartment in a quiet area the back of the building. It was cosy and warm and beds were comfortable. Kitchen was large and well equipped. Local area especiallly Bergmann street was nice to walk around and supermarket was close by. Great communication with host and very welcoming.
The curtains in the living were not in good condition and the ones in the other bedroom were very thin, both let in lots of light from light boxes over doors from University building opposite. Also lots of light coming in glass panels in the bedroom door to the kitchen. The shower not only took a long time to heat up which we were warned about but also sometimes mid showering went freezing cold.
Superb
The location was great, it's away from the city centre but well connected by transportation. The suburb itself is great for restaurants and coffee shops. Host communication was excellent. There is no washing machine in the apartment but the host was able to assist us with this.
This was mentioned in the description so we were aware that the beds are quite high, but we used the sofa beds, and it's not uncomfortable for a few nights. The shower tap is very unpredictable in terms of temperature.
A comfortable place away from home
We love the location of the apartment. Very central and accessibility to various types of food
I wish there is a lift in that apartment and a washing machine in the unit.
Lovely apartment in a great area - close to the U and easy access to the city centre!
We absolutely loved the area - vibrant, diverse and relaxed. Some great places to eat - Umami in particular was amazing and the supermarket round the corner had a lovely bakery. Really close to the Mehringdamm U station. The apartment was much bigger than expected, in a lovely old building which was quiet and welcoming. Lovely, clean bathroom and kitchen. Really comfortable beds and the children loved sleeping up high. Arno, the host was easy to contact and pleasant.
Would have been nice to have a radio in the kitchen for some music as we couldn't get the TV to work. The lounge area could have been a little cosier and the curtains in the lounge didn't quite cover the windows. Shower temperature was a little inconsistent.
