The Mandala Berlin, a Member of Design Hotels
About
Look, I've walked past The Mandala probably fifty times before I actually stayed there – it's right there on Potsdamer Straße where you're always rushing to catch the U-Bahn or heading to the Sony Center. But honestly, from the outside you'd never guess what's waiting inside. The entrance is almost understated for a five-star place, which I actually love because it means you're not dealing with tour groups clogging up the lobby every morning.
The thing that gets me about this place is how they've managed to feel both sleek and warm at the same time. You know how some design hotels make you feel like you're living in a museum? Not here. The rooms have this zen thing going on – hence the name, I guess – but it's not trying too hard. Large windows, clean lines, and the beds are honestly ridiculous in the best way. I mean, the pillows alone... but what really sold me was the kitchenette situation. Most hotels give you a sad mini-fridge and call it a day, but these are actual functional spaces. Perfect if you want to grab some of that amazing bread from the Saturday market at Hackescher Markt and not eat every meal out.
The location is where this place really shines though. You're literally a three-minute walk from Potsdamer Platz, but here's the thing – you're positioned just enough away from the main tourist chaos that you can actually sleep at night. I was worried about street noise being right on Potsdamer Straße, but the rooms are surprisingly quiet. Plus, you've got Museum Island fifteen minutes on foot, and if you're into the whole startup scene, you're perfectly positioned for Kreuzberg without having to stay in some sketchy hostel. The staff actually knows the neighborhood too – not just the obvious spots but where to get proper coffee at 7am (there's this tiny place on Stresemannstraße that opens early). Parking is typical Berlin nightmare stuff, but they have valet service that's worth every euro if you're driving. Check-in was smooth, none of that "your room isn't ready until 4pm" nonsense, and they seem to get that business travelers don't want a lengthy welcome speech when they're jet-lagged. The 9.1 rating makes sense once you're there – it's the kind of place that just works without making a big show of it.

Exceptional
The location is great. We had the studio which would be even better if we had stayed longer as it has a kitchenette where you can pretty much do everything. However the best are the staff... We were greeted by Demba who even took the time to take us all the way to the parking spot as we werent able to locate it at first...There was also a very nice breakfast included at atrium, which in my opinion can even be a paid brunch ... overall a great experience..would stay there again for sure...
Nothing :)
A first-rate, beautifully appointed hotel.
This is an excellent hotel. My room was spacious, filled with light, carefully and tastefully designed, and with excellent temperature control. The breakfast was ample and good and the breakfast staff were friendly and helpful. The front desk staff were equally helpful. I didn't use the spa and the hotel's highly regarded restaurant was closed for vacation during the time I was there. But I'm sure they are of comparable very high quality. The location is central and nicely positioned for use of public transport to other parts of the city. I will definitely return on my next trip to Berlin. It was a pleasure to return to at the end of the day.
Exceptional
Great room, great location and great bar upstairs.
I had a good week, felt home and was happy, but did not use the kitchen much.
Nice design - lovely staff.
Kitchenette was not equipped. On request a pot and pan was delivered, but no kitchen knives, liquid to do dishes, kitchen towels etc. the fridge ias more like a mini bar with some small extra space, so you have to drink a lot before you can store food.

Breakfast was delicious and offered a great variety. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and equipped with all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. Very good hotel with excellent location
The hotel is located close to the Potsdamer Platz. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The room was very big, clean and comfortable with a super comfy bed. The hotel has a well-equipped gym. The breakfast is rich and tasty, maybe the plates could be a bit bigger, but it's no big deal.
Everything was fine.
