Urban Comic Kreuzberg
About
So I stumbled across Urban Comic Kreuzberg last spring, and honestly? I wasn't expecting much from a 3-star place. But this little gem on Urbanstraße completely changed my mind about what a mid-range hotel can be. The moment you walk in, you realize someone actually put thought into this place – there's original street art covering the walls (hence the "comic" name, I assume), and the lobby has this relaxed, almost gallery-like vibe that immediately tells you you're in Kreuzberg, not some generic business district.
What really got me was how the staff seemed to actually live in the neighborhood. The guy at reception didn't just point me toward tourist spots – he mentioned that the Turkish bakery two blocks down opens at 6 AM if I wanted proper börek for breakfast, and warned me that Oranienstraße gets pretty lively on weekend nights (my room faced the back courtyard anyway, so no issues there). The rooms themselves are clean and surprisingly spacious for Berlin standards, with these cool comic-themed touches that somehow don't feel gimmicky. I mean, you've got Batman prints next to your bed, but it works. The shower pressure was actually decent too, which – let's be real – isn't always a given in older Berlin buildings.
Location-wise, you're right in the heart of everything that makes Kreuzberg special, but on a quieter residential street that locals actually use. Görlitzer Park is a five-minute walk if you want to people-watch or grab some... well, whatever people grab in Görli these days. The U-Bahn at Südstern is close enough that you can easily hop over to Mitte or Prenzlauer Berg, but honestly, I found myself just wandering the neighborhood most evenings. There's something about being on a street where actual Berliners live – you'll see kids playing in courtyards and smell dinner cooking from apartment windows – that makes the whole experience feel more authentic than staying in some polished hotel near Brandenburg Gate. The 9.1 rating makes perfect sense once you're there; it's not trying to be fancy, but everything works exactly as it should, and the whole place has this effortless cool that you can't really manufacture.

Everything was great. Close to popular spots, super clean apartment with all accessories you need. Professional communication with the hosts and comfortable solutions within this place made us appreciate our stay in Urban Comic.
Excellent location and host.
The host (Martin) was super friendly and even kept our stuff on departure day, which enabled us to do some exploring of the surroundings before our train left. The place was also outstanding and the wifi was good enough to do some work tasks in the morning from the apartment.
Exceptional
Very easy communication with Martin and the apartment was very comfortable, I really liked the comic touch and would love to come back again in my next visit to Berlin
Nothing that I can think of...
A very nice place to stay in a lively area. Superb.
Apartment with all facilities you need to stay by yourself. It’s a home :-)
Small issue with front door of the (nice!) building.
It has been great, nice part of the city, dry central and well connected

Apartment very well located, with shops, cafes, restaurants within 5min walking distance. The apartment has everything you need, very comfortable. Martin was very helpful and helped with everything we needed. I would come back for sure.
Comfortable and convenient ground floor apartment, with good access to the city.
Friendly and helpful host. Apartment was well equipped and resourced for self catering, although we ate out a fair bit. Good value cafés and restaurants within walking distance, with a wide culturally diverse choice. Local supermarkets (Edeka and Netto) close by. The M41 bus stopped virtually outside the door with a regular service to the city centre. Easily accessed from Berlin Brandenburg airport using the Express bus and U Bahn, via Rudow. The excellent ‘Indian Summer’ weather helped - sunny every day with blue skies!
The mezzanine bed with steps to access was a bit daunting at first, but caused no difficulties for us, both in our late seventies.
Very good
Great location to explore Berlin, plus great value for money. Easy check in with quick communication with Martin. Would stay again.
Unfortunately both my partner and I found the bed super hard. It's a thin mattress on a wooden frame so not much give. It could benefit from a mattress topper to make the stay a 10/10. Other than that our stay was great!
