Apartments Am Friedrichshain
About
Look, I'll be honest – when I first heard "Apartments Am Friedrichshain," I wasn't expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones that catch you completely off guard. This little gem sits right in one of Berlin's most interesting neighborhoods, and after spending a few days here, I actually get why it's pulling in those 9.2 ratings.
Friedrichshain is where Berlin really shows its personality – I mean, you're walking distance from the East Side Gallery (that's the longest remaining stretch of the Berlin Wall, covered in incredible street art), and the whole area just pulses with this creative energy. The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious, which is honestly a relief after cramming into those shoebox hotel rooms you find everywhere else in the city. The kitchenettes are actually functional too – not just a mini-fridge and a prayer like some places. I ended up grabbing fresh bread from the bakery around the corner most mornings and having proper breakfast instead of paying hotel prices for mediocre pastries.
What really won me over was how the place feels more like staying in a neighborhood than being a tourist trapped in a hotel bubble. You'll hear the trams rumbling by in the morning (it's actually pretty soothing once you get used to it), and there's this authentic Berlin rhythm to everything. The staff clearly knows the area – they pointed me toward this incredible späti (that's a late-night corner shop, essential Berlin knowledge) and suggested taking the M10 tram instead of the U-Bahn for better views. Small touches, but they matter when you're trying to actually experience a city. The Wi-Fi is solid, the heating works properly (crucial in Berlin winters), and honestly, the whole place just feels clean and well-maintained without being sterile. Sure, it's not fancy – you won't find marble bathrooms or turndown service – but it's got character and it sits right in the heart of one of Europe's most dynamic neighborhoods. For the price point, especially with that kind of rating, it's the sort of place that makes you feel like you've found Berlin's best-kept secret.

The host was helpful and caring. The place was clean, very quiet (yard-side windows) and in general a great place to rest after a day of sightseeing or a night of partying. The location right in the centre of Berlin is incredibly convenient. Has everything you could need for a comfortable 1-week stay.
The host was super kind and available to welcome us, by checking what time we would arrive and make sure to be there for us. The apartment was better than imagined, with heated floors, and a beautiful view from the private balcony. The shared kitchen was perfectly clean and tidy for us to use. The position of the apartment was super, close to the city centre and close to the metros,I would definitely recommend this place and a 100% will come back when visiting Berlin again.
Nice location, easy connection via public transport.
Well positioned, close to the tram line. Very peaceful location. The owner was very kind and collaborative
The owner was a very nice person, and I was able to stay with peace of mind. And there was nothing wrong with the clean room and calm atmosphere. I'm very grateful.
Clean and cosy apartment, the host was polite and friendly
Location. Spatious room. Comfortable bed. Balcony. Quiet place.
The location seemed out of the way and somewhat lackluster at first, but then we discovered more of the park and neighborhood side streets, which were quite nice.
Great room with excellent bed, nice bathroom, fresh flowers and super clean. Very cool location with great transport links near the centre and very helpful host.
Lovely, quiet and clean room. Shared kitchen and washing machine was nice
