B&B HOTEL Berlin-Alexanderplatz
About
You know what struck me first about B&B HOTEL Berlin-Alexanderplatz? It's actually quiet. I mean, you're literally on Voltairestraße in Mitte – practically breathing distance from Alexanderplatz – but somehow the street noise doesn't really penetrate the rooms. Maybe it's because the building sits just far enough back from the main drag, or maybe they just did something right with the windows. Either way, I slept better than I expected for being smack in the middle of everything.
The thing about this place is it knows exactly what it is. It's not trying to be some boutique experience or luxury whatever – it's a solid 3-star that does the basics really well. The lobby's clean and modern without being sterile, check-in was surprisingly smooth (even when I showed up at like 2 PM hoping my room was ready), and honestly, the staff seemed to actually care about getting things right. My room was compact but smart about it – everything had its place, the bed was comfortable enough that I didn't wake up feeling like I'd been wrestling with the mattress, and the bathroom was one of those efficient European setups that somehow fits everything you need into a space the size of a closet.
But here's the real deal – the location is kind of perfect if you want to be in the thick of Berlin without paying Unter den Linden prices. You're a three-minute walk to Alexanderplatz station, which means you can get literally anywhere in the city without thinking about it. Hackescher Markt is right there if you want the touristy restaurant scene, but if you walk five minutes the other direction toward Rosenthaler Platz, you'll hit some of those little Turkish breakfast spots and vintage stores that locals actually go to. I grabbed coffee most mornings at this tiny place on Torstraße – can't remember the name, but it's the one with the blue awning – and it became this nice little routine. The 8.1 rating makes sense to me because it's not flashy enough to wow anyone, but it's also hard to find much wrong with it. I mean, the Wi-Fi worked, the shower had decent pressure, and nobody was vacuuming the hallways at 6 AM. Sometimes that's exactly what you need, especially when you're spending most of your time exploring the city anyway. If you're looking for something reliable in Mitte that won't eat your entire budget, this is actually a pretty smart choice.

Comfy hotel - clean and good food. Decent location for Alexandeplatz and public transport
The hotel and rooms were spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good value and good quality.
At first I was a bit intimidated by the area - some homeless people (who didn’t bother us) - the area was a bit run down and lots of graffiti - however - soon got used to it and the location is very handy.
