Hotel St.-Michaels-Heim
About
You know what? Hotel St.-Michaels-Heim caught me completely off guard. I was expecting another generic Berlin hotel when I first walked up to that ivy-covered building on Bismarckallee, but there's something genuinely charming about this place that has nothing to do with its 3-star rating. The location alone -- tucked away in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf -- puts you in one of those quiet residential pockets where actual Berliners live, not just tourists stumbling between hostels.
The building itself feels more like a well-maintained guesthouse than a hotel, honestly. Walking through those doors, you're hit with this old-world European vibe that's hard to fake -- I mean, the wooden floors actually creak in that satisfying way, and the common areas have this lived-in warmth that makes you want to grab a book and settle in for hours. The rooms are clean and comfortable without being flashy (the bathrooms are surprisingly spacious, by the way), and here's the thing about staying in this neighborhood -- you're genuinely close to everything that matters without being right in the chaos. Kurfürstendamm is basically a pleasant walk away, but you can also hop on the U-Bahn at Dahlem-Dorf and be in Mitte in twenty minutes. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night; Bismarckallee isn't a main thoroughfare, so you're not dealing with constant traffic noise like you would closer to the city center.
The staff runs the place like they actually care about it -- not overly formal, just helpful in that straightforward German way. Check-in was smooth, they knew the neighborhood well enough to give solid restaurant recommendations (there's this Turkish place around the corner that's absolutely worth finding), and they didn't make me feel rushed when I needed to store my bags after checkout. Parking can be a bit tricky on the street, but honestly that's true everywhere in Berlin, and if you're planning to explore the city properly you won't need a car anyway. The whole area has this tree-lined, almost suburban feel that's perfect if you want to experience Berlin beyond the tourist bubble -- you'll see people walking their dogs in the morning, families heading to the local bakery, that sort of authentic daily life you miss when you're staying in the heart of the tourist zone. It's not luxury, but it's genuine, and sometimes that's exactly what you need.

Superb
Great location and very clean nice rooms
No EV car charger.
A pleasant place to relax after a day sightseeing
This hotel was in a very leafy location, but very easy to got onto the whole S/U bahn network - three stops on a bus around the corner. The beer garden was a bonus when the weather stayed sunny. Definate value for money considering this was the capital city.
Breakfast could have been ramped up a bit, but was adequate enough
Gladly will stay here again.
Beautiful place, quiet and safe. Good breakfast which you can enjoy on the garden terrace. Very comfortable room, as always in hotels of religious organisations. Nice surroundings, lovely garden. There is a beer garden and restaurant accesible in daytime. Good wifi. Large parking place. We had some misunderstandings during the check-in process, so the hotel gave me a discount at check-out. This was a very respectful way of treating a guest, which I very much appreciated. Thank you. I highly recommend this property to anyone who enjoys a comfortable stay in a peaceful location. The nearest public transport (bus M 19 and M 29 ) is easily reachable within a 10 minute walk - buses take 5 min. from Hallensee, Westkreuz and Grunewald S Bahn stations. I visited the Waldbuhne, which was easily and quickly enough reached from here.
Very good
Big room with lot of light
Smell from the restaurant on the stairs
Excellent stay, Berlin city center easily accessible.
We had a nice clean, quiet room. It's a beautiful property. Staff was very helpful.
Good
The location is excellent. It's quiet with its own parking in a very nice residential area with beautiful surroundings. I was able to park my car and use public transport. The building is very interesting. I hope to visit again after the repairs have been completed.
It was quite hot inside, so we had to sleep with the windows open and a little bit of noise. There were reparation works just outside the room, visible from both sides, but it was tolerable.
Superb
