About this stay

About

You know what caught me off guard about Motel One Berlin-Hackescher Markt? It's actually way cooler than the "motel" name suggests. I mean, when I first heard the name, I was picturing some roadside place with thin walls and questionable carpet – but this is honestly one of the slickest budget-friendly spots I've stayed at in Berlin. The design feels like someone took a high-end boutique hotel and just... made it affordable. Dark wood, mood lighting, this whole sophisticated vibe that doesn't feel forced or trying too hard.

The location is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without staying right in the touristy chaos. You're a few minutes' walk from Hackescher Markt S-Bahn station, which means you can get anywhere in the city without dealing with the usual Berlin public transport confusion (well, less confusion anyway). What I really loved is that you're close enough to all the Mitte action – the galleries, the restaurants that locals actually go to, those little courtyards tucked away that you'd never find on your own – but you're not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling past your window at 3 AM. The neighborhood has this authentic Berlin energy, you know? Like, there's a döner place around the corner that's open late and actually good, and you'll see people heading to work in the morning instead of just crowds with cameras.

Honestly, for a 3-star place, they've nailed the details that matter. The rooms are compact but smart – everything has its place, and the bed is actually comfortable (I'm picky about mattresses). The shower has proper water pressure, which... look, if you've traveled enough, you know that's not always a given. Check-in was smooth, the staff seemed to know what they were doing, and the whole place just felt well-run. I did notice it can get a bit busy during peak season – there's this small lobby area that feels cozy with a few people but cramped when there's a line – but that's pretty typical for Berlin hotels in this price range. The 8.5 rating makes total sense to me because it delivers exactly what it promises without any nasty surprises. It's not trying to be something it's not, but what it is, it does really well. If you want to stay somewhere that feels distinctly Berlin without breaking the bank or ending up in some soulless chain hotel, this place gets it right.

The concierge service in Berlin can arrange exclusive tours of the Berlin Wall remnants, secure reservations at traditional beer halls, and organize personalized visits to world-class museums and the historic Reichstag building.

Amazing hotel, it looks better than the pictures, only one min walk from Alexanderplatz and from train station that comes from the Airport. You can see the tv tower from our window! The staff was amazing, everything was perfect.
