SANA Berlin Hotel
About
You know what struck me first about SANA Berlin Hotel? The lobby actually feels like someone designed it for people, not just Instagram photos. I mean, don't get me wrong – it's definitely sleek and modern in that way four-star places do well – but there's something approachable about it. Maybe it's how the staff genuinely seemed to care when I was fumbling with my terrible German at check-in, or how the lighting doesn't make you look like you haven't slept in days.
The rooms are honestly quite solid for Berlin. I've stayed in enough places around the city to know that space is premium here, but SANA manages to make their rooms feel bigger than they probably are. The bed was one of those where you actually sleep through the night (which, let's be real, doesn't always happen when you're traveling), and the bathroom had proper water pressure – something I've learned not to take for granted in European hotels. What I really appreciated was the blackout curtains that actually worked. Berlin summers mean it's light until nearly 10 PM, so that matters more than you'd think. The AC was quiet too, which is huge because nothing ruins a good night's sleep like a unit that sounds like it's trying to take flight.
Here's the thing about the location – and this is where SANA really gets it right – you're positioned where you can actually experience Berlin without feeling like you're stuck in tourist central. The U-Bahn connections are genuinely convenient (I could get to Mitte in about 15 minutes), but you're also in a neighborhood where real Berliners live and work. There's a fantastic bakery just two blocks away that locals queue up at every morning, and honestly, their pretzels were better than anything I found near Brandenburg Gate. The hotel's restaurant is pretty decent too – not groundbreaking, but they do a proper German breakfast and their evening menu has some interesting takes on local dishes. I actually ended up eating there twice, which rarely happens when I travel.
The service sits at that sweet spot where they're professional without being stuffy. When I needed restaurant recommendations, the concierge didn't just hand me a generic list – she asked what I was in the mood for and suggested this incredible Turkish place in Kreuzberg that I never would have found otherwise. That 8.5 rating makes total sense to me because this isn't a place trying to be the fanciest hotel in Berlin, but it's definitely trying to be one of the most thoughtful. If you're the type who wants marble everything and a butler, look elsewhere. But if you want a really solid base for exploring the city with people who actually seem to enjoy their jobs? SANA nails it.

Staff were very friendly, room was spotless as was the rest of the hotel and very comfortable bed
We couldn’t fault the hotel
Everything was good except that the pool was a bit crowded and the Dampfbad was not working!
We loved the hotel, the location, the room was super comfortable for all the family and the two bathrooms were super convenient!
Rooms spacious and clean
Good Location and a nice junior suite. Really friendly service. Rooms for everyone.
Very stylish and comfortable hotel. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. Room was lovely and our coffee machine was faulty and they replaced it straight away for us. Top marks! Lovely heated and undercover semi outdoor area where you can smoke.
Everything else was great, the room so very neat, entrance of the hotel smelling so nice, the idea of placing twins on the same desk is a fascinating marketing tool, ooh the sauna was lit. The ambiance of the whole place was very good.
The best hotel beds I have slept in, but pointy edges. The staff was exceptional, great gym, good breakfast, etc. Clean and quiet. Good location.
