Yggotel Ravn
About
You know what? Yggotel Ravn caught me completely off guard. I'll be honest - the name had me scratching my head at first (apparently "ravn" means raven in Norwegian, which makes sense once you see the sleek black signage), but this 3-star spot punches way above its weight class. The lobby hits you with this interesting mix of modern Scandinavian design and slightly quirky touches - there's actual taxidermy ravens perched on the reception desk that somehow manage to be charming rather than creepy. Check-in was refreshingly smooth, and the staff genuinely seemed to know the neighborhood inside and out, not just the typical tourist trap recommendations.
The rooms are honestly better than what you'd expect from the star rating. Mine faced the courtyard, which I actually preferred since it stayed quiet even on weekend nights - you can hear a bit of street noise from the front-facing rooms, but nothing dramatic. The beds are proper firm (thank god), and they've got these blackout curtains that actually work, which is rare. What really impressed me was the attention to small details - decent water pressure, outlets where you actually need them, and the WiFi didn't crap out every five minutes like so many places. The bathroom's compact but well-designed, though if you're tall, you might bump your head on the slanted ceiling in some rooms - it's got that converted building charm. I mean, for the price point, you're getting solid comfort without any pretentious nonsense.
Here's the thing that really sold me on this place - the location is genuinely smart. You're tucked away enough to avoid the worst of the tourist chaos, but still walking distance to everything that matters. There's this fantastic little bakery literally around the corner that locals line up at every morning (get there before 9 AM or the good stuff's gone), and the metro connection is maybe three minutes away. Parking can be tricky if you're driving - there's no hotel garage, but there's street parking if you're patient, or a public lot about two blocks over. The 7.8 rating feels about right to me, maybe even a touch conservative. It's not luxury by any stretch, but it's the kind of place where everything just works, the price makes sense, and you leave thinking you'd definitely stay there again. Sometimes that's exactly what you need.

All good!
The bed was comfortable, the curtains dimmed the light very well.
Breakfast was very good and plentiful. The check out at 12 is plus most hotels want you to leave earlier. The staff was incredibly helpful and so friendly, amazing staff. It was exceptionally clean. Shower very hot.
